In this ideal situation presumably Kear would be working for the love of the club and very little financial incentive when he went upstairs, but surely if Morrison can't do the job on his own without kear's help why would the club want him in the first place, wouldn't it be simpler to just get a coach that can do the job instead.

My reasoning is the short term impact that this team desperately needs is something that Kear has proven he can provide, he also has bags of top level coaching experience something Morrison cannot yet boast. He is also a pretty savvy operator off the field and could advise Carter on the rugby side of things, player worth etc, something he admits he knows nothing about. Morrison for me is then the man to take over when the ship is steadied, being one of the best up and coming coaches around and being able to implement pathways from academy to first team and get a backroom staff around him which is fully in tune with modern day techniques. Yes more expensive but maybe just more beneficial as well. Morrison was Kears captain the last time they were here so they have history. But as i said its my ideal scenario, not one i expect to happen.

You'll never get James Deighton down here unless it's for another Forum night, he's too good a job at Radio Leeds 8)

Can't fault your logic or your reasoning, just questioning the financial implications bearing in mind the clubs finances.

Would love it if JD came back. He has done well with Northern Pride though he now has a coaching role at North Queensland so I doubt he is ready to move. In that case Glen Morrison would do, but will he even apply ?

Undoubtably thats the rather large fly in the ointment but i see it not as a cost but as an investment. There is no doubt that this appointment has to be got right or the implications for the club don't bear thinking about.

Not been mentioned yet I think, but wouldn't surprise me if Brian Noble was drafted in short term, not sure if it would be a good move for the club though.

Although career-wise it would make sense for him, he is clearly a man who puts family first, and although I don't know the guy, I doubt he would uproot his children again after settling them in Australia after all the UK years. Also, having settled in Northern Queensland, can you see him saying yes to the question, "how do you fancy living in Wakefield again?" I imagine one glance out of his window at the blue sky and twinkling blue waters would answer that question.

Re: New Coach, Who? : Tue May 19, 2015 8:33 pm
Kelly has been out of coaching for too long. Morrison not ready yet, it wasn't that long since he was in the dressing room. too much familiarity doesn't go down well with coaching. the only man I think for the job , who could blow some fire into the embers we already have is Kear. Out of all the players I have spoke to over the years, like him or loathe him , they all agreed his man management was second to none in RL. He knew how to get the boys up for a game or for a challenge.
He seemed to thrive on being in the position we are now , the underdog, the no hopers. the only question is, will he be willing to step up to the plate again? I think he would, the guy loves a challenge. back to the wall stuff is right up his street. tailor made for trinity at this time and imo if we get out of this for the next 2 years to steady the ship.
