We all have our opinions on what could have been done better be it management, or ground location or the whole lot, but one thing sticks out like a sore nose in an booty factory ,is that on this forum some supporters are at best fickle !

Did anyone expect anything else, as a Trin fan we need to keep on! We don’t do anything the easy way we never have so why start moaning now you’re only providing the smiles for those that wish to gloat.

At present we are still in SL we still have a ground and a team to take to the pitch come the new season, I did in the end buy a season ticket along with shirts for the family and will do so as long as its Wakefield Trinity Wildcats !!!!!(Dreadnoughts ) as I have done for a lot of years.

Thanks to those supporters from other clubs who wish us well and mean the best cheers.

As for my opinion on why we got to this point well were to start.

Come on the Trin :DRUNK:  :GUITAR: :ASS:

Good post!

Does it matter who's to blame for this situation? The fact is we're in this mess and, as supporters, our support is more important han ever. Next season is our last at BV and I'll be at as many games as possible to see the old place off in style - I hope it's packed every match. And wouldn't it be great if we turned over a few of the of the teams whose smug / arrogant / downright pig 5h1t thick supporters have given us grief over the last 12 months. Wouldn't it be even better if we finished in a reasonable position - above some of the so called superior teams in SL. And then, wherever we're playing in 2012, and in which ever league, surely we're all still Wakefield Trinity supporters. We need to get behind the team not desert it just because (if) we're not in SL. I'm staying strong, staying positive and keeping on supporting my team, the team my dad supported, the team my great granddad played for. Come on the Trin!!

I wouldn't be so sure. Let us assume that apart from the stadium issue, we both tick more or less the same amount of boxes. If we then look at the stadium issue as what goes on top of that, which will the RFL prefer:
1. A Super League quality stadium, as part of the Plan B that the RFL wanted last time, in a county with no current Super League presence, with a fully-funded Newmarket development still a likely outcome; or,
2. Castleford in exactly the same place as they were, with fines for crowd trouble and homophobia.

I would put our bid above a Cas bid. We have to remember that the RFL look at all of this in very different terms to fans, and they might just see a glossy stadium for Wakey, even if it is sharing with a football club. On paper, with a move to the Plan B, I think our application is better. Why is a Wakey application, based on a Super League quality stadium, worse than Cas's bid, as things stand at the moment?

If Cas get the funding and start building, I would have to concede defeat, but I wouldn't get too cocky just yet if I was a Cas fan, and I wouldn't get too pessimistic if I was a Wakey fan (although the mood of the day is gloomy).

Point 1 - The RFL have been down that road with you before at Barnsley. At the time off application (March?) and award (July?), even if they felt you had funding for 2 stadiums, there will be no guarantee of one being built as Wakey will still be going through the planning process, that's providing of course Yourcourt have not cut their losses and called it a day.

Point 2 - Cas will have full approval and may even have started some construction. As for the rest if they can prove certain systems are in place I see no problem. The club has been punished once.

Yes, but you would have to prove that you can deliver the stadium you have planning permission for? Cas know they need full planning permission before they can realistically include it in an application, but won't they have to prove that they can deliver it, as the planning permission could be seen as just a smokescreen to hopefully buy you another three years in which to build it. Whereas Wakey's application would be based, I assume, on a tenancy agreement to play at a stadium that is already built and would fulfil the quality criteria.

I'm not saying that things look great, but it is too tempting to think that all is doomed on the Wakey front, and all is rosy on the Cas side. On paper, the Wakey application would be better, as it would be based on a stadium that is already built, and we all know how the RFL like things to look good on paper, rather than reality.

There's a lot of water to travel under both bridges yet, and I wouldn't write Wakey off, and I wouldn't be buying in the champagne just yet. We were both warned that we had to be in Super League quality stadia by 2012. We will be. You probably won't be.

losers and winners?

loser - Wakefield Trinity - the delay will force the club from the city and put the continued franchise of the club in serious jeopardy. without the franchise the future of the club itself must be in doubt.

loser - Wakefield City Council - having to pay for a public enquiry when funds are at an all time low, potentially losing a private enterprise development partner, not being able to meet their legal obligations for sustainable development, losing out on privately funded community sporting facilities, and thousands of jobs

loser - the people of Wakefield - the PI will be funded by tax payers, much needed jobs are put at risk, the extended period where there are no sporting facilities for the youth of Wakefield... possibly indefinate.

loser - Trinity fans and the Rugby League - a state of the art satdium built in parkland and environmentally sustainable, built specifically for Rugby League and fully funded seriously at risk.

loser - the developer - massive investment in time and resource and money potentially wasted in a time of deep recession.

loser - local residents - despite the delay, there will be a development on this site in the forseeable future. There are now chances that this could be a complete intustrial development rather than mixed industry and leisure.

winner.... Widnes RL perhaps? Cas RL perhaps (if they can get their act together)?
winner - Leeds city council - who have asserted their authority over the smaller neighbours
winner - for now - the nimbys - who have a few more months before the bulldozers roll in.

Did Santa drop of your rose tinted glasses early or have we been having a little christmas drink too early??

You keep trying to tell yourself that Wakey still have a better application than Cas. Full planning permission will go in by next week for the Glasshougton site, not outline PP. Money is in place and the project is ready to go. I can not honestly believe that you think Wakey have the best application after yesterday's news.

Cost of the stadium.

I'll take your word for it but £11.5m seems light even in these competitive times. Newmarket was mentioned at £20m - high in my opinion - but there looked more in the Stadium at Glasshoughton so I'm surprised at £11.5m but we live and learn.

All the £11.5m (Fully's price) is in place to build the Stadium. Thats great news for you but just out of curiousity where is the £11.5m coming from ? I'm aware that the Council has put up land to allow a loan facility of £2m. Ben Bailey have an option on Wheldon Road but that will only be bought once Outline consent has been obtained and at today's market value which is well down on the peak values of 3/4 years ago when they took out the option.

Not my business but just curious.

Or at least announce another deadline that they will probably fail to meet.
