Without wishing to turn this into something even more political, what we have currently, following so many years of austerity cuts reminds me of the nonsense that went on in the 80, when competitive
sport was discouraged, so as not to hurt "little Jonny's" feelings when he was last pick every week, which has seen obesity levels balloon.
The austerity cuts that we've had are decimating sporting facilities, especially in Wakefield and the community facilities are probably more important now, than when the plans for Newmarket were hatched.

Sadly, they look likely to be watered down (if they happen at all) and if we take away Wakefields only professional club, this will have a further damaging effect on the health of our youngsters.
The Hepworth and the other arty stuff is great for the City but, we need to get folk off their backsides and actually doing something.

This country always seems to have a problem using public money to fund sport facilities. All our athletes train abroad.

Many People cite "It only serves a small percent of the population" well what percentage of Wakefield are interested in contemporary sculpture at the £35 million Hepworth. If we used that argument nothing would ever get built.

Sport is just as important than any art gallery or school.

Supporting a club that has served the community for over 100 years should be a priority.

It has to be remembered that the Trinity itself was started by a church as a way of giving working people a sporting outlet, with many sports pursued. It wasn't started as a rugby club. It's just that rugby became the main focus. That ethos founded our club.

Totally agree, especially at the present time when obesity and all of the related problems are costing the NHS (and the tax payer) a fortune.
Investing in sporting facilities for youngsters should be at the top of the list.
Not only do they become fitter and healthier, it also gives that "team ethos", which although undervalued, is a major life skill, something you cant get from visiting an art gallery.

I'm afraid that's where your wrong. I totally despise tax exiles but in reality they make up a very small amount of missing revenue. Companies are a different matter and do make a difference.

However like it or not there are only a few dozen Bransons and millions of us, roughly 30 million.

If everyone of us paid what we owed thet NHS would be a lot better off.

If everyone of us paid a pound a week extra tax that's 15 billion a year extra for the NHS.It's that simple.

We can blame whoever we like but it's us who needs the NHS not the rich. We need to stop this sence of entitlement we have and accept responsibility for ourselves instead of blaming others. We all need a sense of priority rich and poor and both are as bad. Just because you're poor it doesn't mean you're disolved of any responsbility far from it. In fact that's how they get you and that's how they keep us down.

A copper on tv once said that every knock off dvd, packet of fags or pair of trainers that people buy was a criminal act for which there were no excuses. Because, he said they all led back to organised crime and becuase of that somwhere people were suffering dreadfully or worse dying - just so you could keep up with the Joneses.

Same applies to government, if we don't pay what's needed in taxes the private sector who are often suited criminals will fill the void and buy off politicians. Thats exactly whats happened here.

We need to bring Box to book but our Cas compatriots wont bin him because it doesn't affect them and sadly we'd be just the same if the boot were on the other foot.

All very sad and predictable which is why Box will get away with it.

Taxes are for poor people, not the wealthy elite. The Duke of Westminster avoided around 4 billion pounds in inheritance tax because of Establishment loopholes designed for the wealthy to hang on to their inherited wealth. Branson is a shyster who takes billions from taxpayers to provide poor service and hides the profit overseas. The NHS is set to be the next asset to be sold off to US healthcare giants who are greedily eyeing up the profit opportunities and will degrade NHS provision to encourage those who can afford it to take out insurance.

You're massively missing the point, I give in and you can carry on being outraged to no effect.

No! It's that lad on a zero hour contract who bought a snide DVD once who's to blame!

No steady we are all to blame. Since when has a zero hours contract vile though they are been an excuse!

You can't have one rule for the rich and one for the poor - ditto - the other way around.

If we all followed the rules rich and poor life would be great but we don't we seem to pick and chose.

As a matter of interest steady if I were to come around and shoot your dog for a laugh would that be ok as I've only done it once? Bit extreme I know but it seems you have to be these days to get the most obvious point across.

Merry xmas hope you enjoyed your snide DVD ;-)
