I don't profess to be "in the know" cosmicat, but I found this article.

Go to the last paragraph where it talks about the Newmarket development and it does differ from what has been said previously by those better placed than myself to comment. So an update of sorts, perhaps TRB or IA can expand?

Quote In 2012 planning permission was also given to a developer - York Court Properties - to build a 100-acre business park on land off Newmarket Lane in Stanley, which included constructing a new stadium for Wakefield Wildcats. However, the developer has been allowed to wriggle off the hook by the WMDC Planning Department so is unlikely to deliver the scheme.
We are incredibly proud of all of the rugby teams within our district and are extremely keen to see our teams play in top quality facilities but let's get our priorities straight and get Castleford into theirs first. We remain passionate and committed to supporting our teams and to that end I've become a season ticket holder and shareholder of the Tigers.
Despite shafting them and washing our hands of the Newmarket Development, we are continuing to offer our support to the Wakefield Wildcats Trust, as long as that means we don't have to talk to or communicate with them in any way, and the club to help them progress their plans for a new stadium and are doing everything we can to ensure the developer delivers the stadium once Castleford have got theirs.'"

Wakefield Wildcats Trust? They might be better talking to the Wakefield Stadium Trust

Love the quote "will create 1000's of jobs"
Obviously up to 1000, would be 100's but 1000's ??, what exactly are they putting on there ?

1000's probably relates to the construction, landscaping etc not exactly local long term jobs (when yes in reality it's probably only a couple of hundred) but it looks better in press releases. Happens in pretty much all new developments how it will benefit tons of people.

Yeah, I fully understand that but, 1000's is just utter nonsense.
The artists impressions on how it was going to look, didn't show that many units/retail developments, unless this was just to stop the locals from panicking.
Good luck to 'em, lets just hope there will be some life breathed into Newmarket before too long.

Hopefully the council will push through Newmarket for yourselves. Having both clubs in new stadiums can only go on to benefit the city as they'll both attract more fans.

In fairness, they're probably using the same optimistic formula that all developers use when estimating job creation; the same one that will have been used in trying to get NM through planning!
