Some fans seem very confused as to what supporting the team actually means.
I’ve said it before but as fans we have only one part to play and that is to support the team. We do that by paying to watch and then shouting them on, that is all we can ever do, anything else is purely counterproductive.
Best analogy I’ve ever heard is that it’s like buying a car then endlessly wanting it to break down with every odd noise under the bonnet signalling catastrophic engine failure.
Why do people want to be like that? What does it achieve other than a rather gutless way to shield yourself from disappointment.
I’ve been a fan now for nearly forty years and I’ve rarely experienced the good times yet I still feel we can beat Saints or anyone else if we are really up for it.
This mentality would be a stupid one if I were the head of a PLC or say the NHS but let’s get some context here it’s a RL game. Like all sports RL has the element of jeopardy built in, even now the rules are designed to facilitate upsets.
The sport is sponsored by a bookie, what more proof is needed?
If that's your best analogy, vasty, God help your worst. Nobody WANTS their car to break down and no Trinity fan WANTS their team to lose!!
So you're seriously saying you expect us to win on Friday?! William Hill in a 2 horse race have Saints priced 1/20 and us at 10/1 with no handicap. So I assume at 10/1 you have lumped on us then yeah??! Somehow I seriously doubt it, because you like every other fan of RL don't seriously think we will win, you're just saying it to have a go at the poster, for in your opinion, negativity?! He's not being negative, he's being honest, so why have a go? Just like everybody else, I HOPE we will win, but I doubt we will, and it's quite possible we will get hammered, what's so unusual about that, given our 'form' say over the last 60 games, and Saints' form over the same period?? That's why the odds are what they are. Since mid 2019 I haven't EXPECTED to win ANY game!!!! Apart from very fleeting 'runs' of form, we have always been underdogs since the '60's, so to go to the current champions, who currently are miles better than the rest, and expect us to win is nothing short of ridiculous.......
Think you’ll see a different squad mentality at saints than under the old regime ,we aren’t just going over to make the numbers but to compete ,gone are the Chester pep talks .In Willie we have a coach that is confident and that rubs off on the team . Who’d have thought we’d have just come up short against les cats at their place . We need to change our mentality on how we look at the team . Just watched leeds n cats tonight and if they are the front runners ,then we have nothing to fear going forwards

Had to laugh commentators would not say how bad the Leeds game was ,they were just going on about how many players were out . and the weather One of the commentators said that Catalan had a easy win against Wakefield . Would love to stick it up St tonight ,but there again it would be how bad St had played
And yet we have a bunch of people on here who seem to revel in the possibility.
Some people may take that remark as antagonistic, even inflammatory, bordering on trolling......?! I can honestly say, watching us get pummelled at Gateshead in'99, lose 30-0 in London, then what was it, 74-12, in 2005, not to mention that dark Easter Monday at Cas was it, a club record defeat, didn't they get over 80 that day?! I certainly didn't revel in those losses. It seems to me some people's 'criteria' for being a 'proper' fan is to truly, genuinely believe that we will win every game we play in?! How many times have we won at Saints in the last 25 years, twice, maybe 3 times at the most? So someone who actually posts a reasonable post when you actually read it, gets called a drama queen?!
Anyway, score prediction.....what I truly believe.....Saints 32 - Wakey 18. Given their results against Hull & Catalans, that wouldn't be a bad effort, and would be totally respectable.

Good for you, hope the team doesn't take the easy way out.
