I get that you want to win an arguement Scarlet but you are losing sight of what you want.
If we are staying at Belle Vue for a year that is good for everyone....regardless where we end up after that.
People come to this forum because they support Wakefield. They are bound to favour a plan that helps Wakefield Trinity. Surely you are one of those? Not backing the people who wanted to block the stadium is not the same as not seeing that the build at Newmarket is a scar on the Wakefield landscape whether you are on Newmarket Road or in Sandal. You can still see it.
No one with the best interests of the City of Wakefield would have backed what we got. The plan to bring jobs to the area was great. The original plans looked quite exciting all round. That box hasn't brought them.... .and it would appear, neather has the other Box either.

What I am pointing out is the fact that those who are trying to suggest they care about Newmarket is more to do with their dislike of the council.
I never liked the idea of Newmarket it was the wrong site and definitely in the wrong place.
I believe a redeveloped Belle Vue will actually prove to be a greater success than Newmarket would ever be. RL supporters are reluctant to change, just look at Salford, many of them wished they had stayed at their old ground.
Look at football they have muted the return to areas of terracing.

I agree with much of this, Newmarket would have been good if it was more of a sports village but that was never going to happen. New Belle Vue seems to be our only option which as a fan I quite like to be honest

Are you being serious - Have you not taken in anything that's happened in the last 15 years?

You've been royally screwed - even MC states that - also if NM was never going to happen in your 'expert' opinion then why do you believe this will - by what logic have you come to this conclusion - I'm genuinely interested because I can't..

As far as I can see the best part of potentially perhaps as much as 60 million pounds has gone missing from the public purse.

Rubbish your just creating a smoke screen as usual.

You know full well that it's nothing to do with where is best BV was always my preference. It the OBVIOUS fact that the 106 has been flagrantly disregarded.

I realise empathy is not your thing but the residents of NM were not in favour of the original development but accepted the SOS decision. Can you imagine how they feel now they have something 50 times more intrusive. Just think about it for once.

I said a proper sports village at Newmarket was never going to happen in my expert opinion because that was never planned it was a stadium with a few training pitches in an industrial estate. We have an inept council what were you expecting, if we get Belle Vue redeveloped I will be happy. What would you do? We've tried to get the council to do what's morally correct and they've failed to step up to the plate.

By what calculation could you come up with a figure of 60m going missing.
You want the council to get a developer to build us a ground, I presume we won’t be funding the redevelopment of Belle Vue that I presume will be the developer.
I guess it all boils down to a question of if your glass is half empty or half full. I presume you are the former and when have you shown any empathy for anyone.

Re: Belle Vue back on? : Wed Dec 27, 2017 3:19 pm
I'm quite happy at the idea, and that's all it is, an idea that the Belle Vue be redeveloped.
This is obviously against the backdrop of all that has gone before, its virtually that or nothing because we've had our pants pulled down at NM, if it isn't Belle Vue its nowhere, and anything is better than nowhere.
But tbh, Belle Vue whilst it is our spiritual home is quite limited by its size, access and scope for further additions/expansion.
NM is far less limiting in every conceivable way, I couldn't care less how close it is to Cas or Leeds, its in the Wakefield district, every other consideration is a country mile better than Belle Vue.

So we learn 10 years down the line that the Community facilities were never going to be built, but at the time the plans came to the table, we were led to believe it was a shoe-in.
You can't come back a decade later and say Belle Vue is best cos NM was never gonna happen, it absolutely WAS gonna happen, there was no doubt whatsoever in the minds of the people of Wakefield that it would be built, nobody but the conmen spinning the yarn had any reason to think otherwise.
Anyway, we've been strung along and royally rogered since then, if I'm honest I didn't take too much interest in the abomination at NM, I didn't really pass it much and it wasn't till it was built that I really started to question the wisdom employed in its construction.
No, I was too busy flappin at this one we got at J41, didn't know bugger all about that neither till it was "visible", some 4rs3h0l3 is absolutely taking the p155 with both of em, the community stadium non build is a side issue, we're still stuck with these god awful things no matter where the new ground gets built.

Two points. I heard the total development is worth 60 million. Basically Yorkcourt have now been given most of that for free. So far they have funded nothing and when or if they do it will NOT be anything like the cost of the sports village they promised in return for green belt land.

So pal where is it. Money never disappears it just moves around so where has the rate payers share gone. By my reckoning that's 20 million the cost to build the promised stadium.

Yorkcourt are not going to give us anything like that amount to redevelop BV if anything. So apart from getting a 60 million point development for next to nowt they have effectively pocketed our that's our the ratepayers 2o million.

The exact figure don't matter what really matters is that they don't add up - someone is lining their pockets big style - is it you?

So pimp where is our fecking money?!

Point 2, I argued long and hard with the NM residents for the development and told them that they would get there day in court and may the best man win. They lost but accepted the democratic process. Likewise we won.

Except we didn't get what was promised and neither did they. What part of this scam don't you get? How do you justify what these people have ended up with. Poor sods have effectively lost twice - would you like it pimps, well would you?

You’ve undersold it. A wealthy construction guy connected to the rhino’s once told me he would pay a minimum of £400,000 an acre and there’s 220 acres. You do the math. An absolute scandal!
