sorry poptart but what wildcat 48 is saying is absolutely 100%. i personally know some of the people involved and his post is correct
As I've posted what seems like a million times already, it's an error to believe that what players or their WAG's, Dads or favourite Uncles tell you is 100% factual; much like the messages that come out of the club, their version of events is based on their own perceptions, opinions and whatever spin they want to convey when they tell you the story.
In this instance, as in almost every other, I'd suggest that the truth is somewhere in the middle of the various versions of events that people have conveyed; some may not agree with the end result, but it's folly to believe that anyone has acted in anything than their own best interests, and that includes the player, his agent and both of the clubs involved.
What most agree on is that Murphy decided to play out the season with WTW during the infamous 'vulture-gate' episode; good for him, it showed class and loyalty and certainly helped our season be marginally less disastrous than it could have been. The rest we'll never know, as it involves wrangling and negotiations between the player and various stakeholders and is, ultimately, private and confidential; the two clubs and the agent won't talk about the details and for mine, neither should the player or his friends and family - it's a bit sordid and disrespectful.
Going forward, I hope we're in a position to be holding on to promising local players like Murphy but in the meantime, as seems to be the case here, I hope that when they do move on to the bright lights of Uncle Ken's monied emporium, they do so in a way that represents good business for WTW; if we're going to replace the Shudds academy set-up, let's at least make them pay top dollar.
