If you're a UK taxpayer, as Financial says, please remember to tick the Gift Aid box and the charities will receive the refunded tax. The fees are an issue. Charities use websites like Virgin Money Giving to provide a safe and simple way to give online. We don’t make a profit from what we do, but we do need to charge a small 2% platform fee and a 2.5% payment processing fee. Covering their fees mean 100% of your donation will reach the charity, making an even bigger impact. You can opt not to pay the fee, but they will take them from the donations instead. Your voluntary contribution will be used to maintain the technology that keeps our site running 24/7, provide top notch customer service and give everyone the best possible experience with JustGiving. You can change the default amount you contribute (15% ![]() This is why I used BT last year as they had not platform costs and I think each donor was charged by their bank as applicable for the card fee. The BT site is now closed. If we'd been making a direct donation, I was going to use wonderful.org if possible this year as their costs are covered by commercial sponsors (mainly the co-op). |
