But it isn’t SL and the squad will be different in SL. The time to worry and discuss that is when we are in SL.

No it doesn’t. I think that should be the foundation before you look to introduce expansive plays. First and foremost the middles must dominate by getting quick plays and good post contact metres. This makes defences condense more and relax the edges in parts which can then be exposed.

It’s not the only thing in our locker at all but it’s an area that has slipped in effectiveness without Rodwell (or a fit Rodwell) and Atoni. In some areas Bowden.

We did employ the wrong tactics vs Toulouse and got bitten but for the most part this season we have got it right going central and direct with the forwards we have.

I have confidence in the coaching set up to build on the foundations of our forward play with some expansive and different attacking plays that can break teams down outside of using the middles.

It’s not that we only have the forwards down the middle and bullying opposition forwards as the only tactic but we need to build on that and find a more effective method when we are struggling for impact in the middle.

Fev actually have a big set of middles this weekend and actually it’s probably the strongest part of their squad.

I’m not going to go into full blown meltdown and start picking the squad to pieces after one poor performance. There’s no need at this stage and I trust the coaches and players will address it.

Re: RLW TotM : Sat Jul 27, 2024 2:20 pm
I’m pretty sure it’s been discussed by Powell and Mills and people on here but we started really late getting players which I think the club have recruited magnificently ie Rodwell, Uele, Vagana to name a few. The players already signed up for next year are light years ahead of players we’ve been able to attract in recent years. I can imagine it’s very hard to attract a quality player to come join us in the championship for half a season, and even if they did it throws a spanner in the works in preparing for next year. We definitely need a 7 for the rest of the year in my opinion to bring stability and fluidity to our attack, something Kay can’t offer though he’s got to be commended for being so bloody versatile and putting his hand up to play there. With Lawfords season done and Lino out for god knows how long a loan would be great, but finding someone is difficult I’d imagine. Reckon we should just trust Powell/mills with this.

They share out the clubs reps mostly with clubs usually having no more than 2/3 players in.

The fact Uele isn’t in there putting in regular 200 metre plus games shows how much thought has gone into that team.

Even when we were playing well when we won the 1895 cup and all the games around that time, they only had Jowitt and Rodwell in, so just shows what you say is correct.

Exactly, they just pick 1/2 from each club and not even the ones with best stats. I suspect it’s just a person who just writes a few names on scraps of paper and throws it on social media.

Has anyone else heard the rumour that Lino is now suffering from abscesses and is going to be out for a few more weeks ?? :( :(

It’s an update on the clubs social media. It’s not a rumour.
