Gonna be the toughest game by far of our recent run, although coming back from 20 behind at Wigan is not easy.

If we can put in an 80 minute performance and stop the recent slow starts we can knock off Salford. They weren't that good against Leigh at Magic, huffed and puffed against a pretty ordinary side.

It is if we keep letting teams run up big leads before we fight back.

It's all very impressive and entertaining and show true grit - however we will come badly unstuck if we persist.

I'm not moaning or being negative, but emotions aside it's not really the way to do it. If that had been Cas, well you'd have the Cas game earlier this season all over again - we don't want that.

Think it's a mental thing - we need to impose ourselves on the game from the start and stick with it. You can't generally boss a game for 80 minutes but you can get cracking before 20 minutes is up.

Magic game against Widnes, that's how you do it - even when they fought back there was never a chance. Easier said than done I know, but if we want top 4 or a CCUP Final that's what we need to do. :D

You're not wrong; obviously everyone is chuffed to bits with yesterday's spirit and determination, and nobody wants to moan off the back of that - but we can't be starting games like that if we want to win anything. A decent side would have buried us after scoring a point a minute for the first 20.

Re: Next up Salford : Tue May 30, 2017 1:32 pm
Wigan caught us cold Vasty, we looked up for it in the warm up, lots of high fives, circle of love before going back to changing room etc etc. From where I was sat it just looked like Wigan from the off decided to try and get round us on the out side and not to get involved with a arm wrestle in the middle, it worked, we lost all our line speed and they ran riot down our right edge. I also thought Walker was trying to hard, if that is possible, he shot out of the line at Williams a couple of times, Williams skipped round him and then our outside defenders had no chance. What was impressive was the way sorted this problem. I am not blaming Walker, he has had very little time to fit in to our defensive system, I like him and think he will be a great player for us. Plenty of teams will try the same tactics against us, not many will fancy getting over the top of our forwards. Cas and Salford have the half backs to test any defense out wide . Not sure how you defend it but what was great to see was us resolve the problem.

A quick heads up for anybody coming over on Sunday. Arianna Grande plus others have now confirmed that there will be a music event at Old Trafford Cricket ground on Sunday for the victims of the arena bomb.
This means the Michael Carrick testimonial game at the other Old Trafford has been moved forward from
4: 30 to 2: 30 on Sunday.
Expect traffic fun and games on the M60.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Re: Next up Salford : Tue May 30, 2017 5:53 pm
This should/could be a very tasty line up. Both teams are averaging around 6 tries in their last few games with Salford being slightly better in defence. I reckon this could end up with both teams scoring highly. Probably finish up something like 38-42 but i couldn't guess which way

It is "Fifita" not "Fafita"

If you don't know the difference between "there", "their" and "they're" I might get annoyed.

Just ordered my ticket today although not looking forward to the parking situation at Salford.

This game and indeed all of June is going to be a real tough set of fixtures which will really prove if we are good enough to be in the top third of the table. We are playing teams above us and one just below us, tough ask guys. Let's see what we can deliver. I'm quite happy going into Sunday as underdog, it will take the pressure off us.

Park at Salford City Roosters ARLFC. It's about 15 mins walk to the ground and for the last couple of years they've been charging three quid. It's only 300-400 yds from the end of the motorway slip road. Have used it every time and got away no problem. Presumably they still do it.
