Just been saying on radio yorkshire that DB said to the press he was free for selection. They found it a mystery why he wasn't included.

Anyone got any info?

I heard and thats all it is, that Dannys declared himself fit but the club doctor as not.

No not match fit, the club doctors not happy the injury as fully recovered, and by bringing him back early may make things worse.

There is a policy at the club whereby any returning players must play themselves into contention through the A team. This was agreed between the coaches and senior players as a response to the drop in form last year when players were 'rushed' back into the side.

Any player that is fit and in form will be chosen over any other player who is coming back but has not yet played. This will hopefully benefit the unit as a whole, although there are times when it would be tempting to side-step the system.

As we all have an idea what Danny's character is like, I reckon it's a price worth paying, for the long term benefit of all!

Very true and I think it's the right thing to do. If a player is in good form why should they be dropped as soon as a "big name" comes back. Sends the wrong signals IMO.
