Driving up myself and going to make a couple of days of it.

It will be interesting to see what type of team we have if Gale and Lino are both still injured

Went to Whitehaven once, in a mini clubman, £8 filled the tank and the radio was busted.
Got there 10 mins before kick off to find the game had been called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

went home....:/

Looking forward to this, loving the Championship tour so far. Going back to places I have not been for what seems an age

The Trinity 2024 Tour is giving us some new experiences, that's for sure.
It's a whole new adventure.
With Barrow, Whitehaven and Toulouse plus, Wembley, it's all good fun.
Throw in the old favourites of Odsal and Post Office Road, Mount Pleasant et and its way better than I imagined.

I went that evening a Wednesday night, finished work early and drove straight up to Whitehaven. We got to the top of the hill overlooking the ground and it seemed very quiet at the ground, a local said the storm drain had backed up and flooded the pitch. So we drove back to Cockermouth for a couple of beers and fish and chips.

We're hoping to go every away game this season by public transport. Apart from Toulouse and Whitehaven, we can get to Whitehaven but can't get home we can only get black to Leeds, and that's if the train turns up.
Every trip is an adventure and we're looking forward to away games in a way I've never done before.

I was also there, stood on the pitch waiting for the result from Hunslet -wasn't it our former player., Goddard that kicked the goal from which we benefitted?
Also, did Sonny Whakaru get sent off in that match? May not have, may just be my failing memory that makes things up!

I don’t remember any player being sent off, but like you I can no longer guarantee my memory for accuracy.

Are you sure that it was a Wednesday match?
We travelled up on the supporters' bus and it was flagged down by the team bus, somewhere up in Cumbria.
David Topliss came onto our coach and said that the game was off. He said the team had done their 'loosen up' and gone back into the dressing room, whilst our Aussie half back, (Helliwell I think) stopped out to practice his kicking. He went and found the rest of the team and said that the water on the pitch was over his boots. As he was the team joker, he wasn't believed until a Whitehaven official followed him into the room and confirmed it.

Well, not to spoil things, the Lakes & Cumberland have been flooded on & off for a month with record rainfall - Sunday is forecast for rain from noon to night, so, mud & bad weather awaits us & the team ?
However, it will not be the first time they have got the forecast wrong, but, oh those Aussies will be left wondering again ???
