Did anyone see Max take a proper high tackle and ref just dismissed it. Proper swinging arm and didn’t miss. Think it was Mike Cooper.

Yes it was early in the first half I think and got clattered round his head. Ref did just ignore it though it could t have been more obvious and in front of him.

I thought he killed us at the ruck the ref. When Tupou was picked up off the ground twice and carried back 10 yards his feet leaving ground twice ref didn’t call held and he almost ended in the in goal. Have the rules changed where you were held when both feet were lifted off floor? Or did I imagine that.

He wasn’t the reason we lost but I felt Wire go a lot of leniency in the ruck and being a step in front of the ref offside when pinning us reapeatedly in our 10/20.

You kind of just come to accept that they are inconsistent these days. We got rock all until second half and then the flood of evening up six against and penalties came to even the scales a bit. Unfortunately we didn’t capitalise and didn’t execute our chances.

Too many times in that last quarter when we were in a good attacking position Fifita took the ball from a standing start with little ground making effect. When he runs hard from deep he makes at least an extra 10 metres.

I don’t think Dave is fully fit yet.

He’s basically had a two year lay off. He’s not a natural athlete, I reckon another few games before we see the best. The best I will add won’t be that of three seasons ago Im afraid, age and all that.

Yep, 4 try’s on the left today? Ultimately the difference. Bill has been fantastic the last 2 games but he was too eager and shot out leaving Kay high and dry a few times. Another time he’d planted his feet in the ground which didn’t help either. We just need to go back to what we were doing right in defence. We didn’t have the intensity today and were very reserved in working off the ball too (chasing the kicker down etc).

We are much better than we showed today and bill is a much better player than he showed today.

One word

Ashurst.

Bill plays better when Ashurst plays. Not sure of the technicalities but he defends far better when Ashurst is with him.

You may have a point there. Ashurst is back vs Cas and we will have TJ too. That’s our starting left side. Looking forward to seeing what they can do.
