CAn I just clarify a point that some users on other forums appear mixed up about.

They are under the impression that only the owner of youtube footage can paste their videos on here due to copyright type issues.

This is not the case as the link on here is not a download or a taking a copy of the video, but simply a link to the original footage.

Further youtube positively encourages the sharing and embedding of videos in this way as underneath them all it has a SHARE button which when clicked allows anybody to either grab the link, Tweet or copy to their facebook profile.

As a youtube uploader, I and all other uploaders have the facility to stop this being done by removing the embedding option.

So the bottom line if anybody wishes to copy or embed any of my videos you are more than welcome. But also placing a link to any other website, being a Newspaper, youtube video is also not a breach of copyright.


It would be a breach if you downloaded it, or recorded it from TV and then uploaded it again on your own site. But links to existing sites are not a breach.

YouTube videos are generally banned here because the process to ascertain whether or not they violate the AUP is exhaustive.

Every link posted would have to be checked to make sure it didn't involve bad language, sexual content, racism, sexism, homophobia, bigotry, was not posted illegally or broke libel laws.
