I can't find the story on the web to post a link but I have got a copy of today's League Express. Gareth Walker's article is titled 'Cougars claim EGM support' and it explains that we now have the support of enough clubs to force an EGM. Gary Fawcett also explains a bit about what the RFL's response has been. League Express approached the RFL for a statement and they've basically said that they've co-operated fully with the legal process instigated by the Cougars and that, prior to us seeking legal redress, they offered to meet the club to discuss the issues but that Gary declined the offer. They also say that we had the opportunity to raise any concerns and debate potential outcomes with the RFL and the other Championship and Championship 1 clubs at the clubs' forum on 8th October. Gary is said to have declined this opportunity and 'there was no suggestion from the other clubs of any support for this latest course of action by the Cougars'. The RFL is continuing to show due diligence etc etc.

If I recall correctly the RFL did offer a meeting but only on the understanding that they had no intention of doing anything to rectify the situation which is entirely of their own making. Why on earth would Gary / the Cougars attend such a meeting?

You are quite right CDC, there would have been nothing but an uunsympathetic ear or two and a brew (maybe)

Was the EGM on the agenda at the meeting in Halifax? -probably not

We're cougars able/allowed to add this to the agenda? - possibly

This is a legal challenge and the EGM is a logical way of avoiding dragging the game through the courts, would this meeting in Halifax have been an appropriate way of raising the issue of calling the EGM? - probably not, I wouldn't as this is a completely separate matter to anything else being discussed in RL at this time and I wouldn't want to lower the profile by tackling this issue without a separate voting system to arrange the EGM

Keighley in the process of legal action.
Maybe Keighley legal team advised them not to go.

Page 2 of League Express. RFL offered to meet before legal redress was followed Fawcett refused. He again refused to discuss/debate the issues at the Champ and Champ 1 club forum on the 8th. It also suggests there was no indication of support for an EGM either.

I have heard that there are enough clubs to call an EGM including a superleague club who are calling for a vote of no confidence in the rfl.

I do not know details, however if the EGM wasn't to progress then the matter will go to court with a strong case, again, I do not know the details of this

But why did he refuse? Because the RFL said beforehand that there was zero chance of them doing anything to address the issues raised by the Cougars. Like I said before, what would be the point of attending such a meeting?

Seriously, no offence intended but you shouldn't be quite so gullible as to attach any modicum of credibility to anything that comes out of Red Hall. As we have seen, they make it up as they go along and woe betide anyone who has the cheek to point it out to them.

Why pick on me? Paper published it not me and they made it look like quotes from the RFL. Not bother coming on here anymore, not that interested in Champ 1 anyway. I did have sympathy for you at one point. Maybe instead of calling me gullible you should ask Mr Fawcett what is going on. He's not exactly rushed out and said the paper is lying is he

Right, first of all I did say 'no offence' and I did mean it but I see you've taken some so I'm sorry about that. I know the paper published it, I read it myself, and it was a quote from the RFL but - as is quite normal for them - its intention was to mislead. Gary Fawcett has put out several statements over the past few weeks, most or all of which have been reported in League Express. One of them pointed out how the RFL had offered to meet up and discuss the issues BUT they imposed a condition that it would be understood that they intended to do nothing to address the Cougars' grievances. So this has already been covered a couple of weeks ago; as I said before why would Keighley attend such a meeting? The quote from the RFL is designed to make it look as if they've tried to do their bit but that 'troublesome Keighley' would not engage. And you've picked up on it and posted about it here so it looks as if their spin is working. There will be more of this kind of thing - making Keighley out to be the bother causers when the RFL has throughout been incompetent, inept, and now cynically underhand. They asked to be given until Friday 17th October before they would provide a full response to Keighley. Why that particular date I wonder...? Oh yes, the fixtures are being published on Sunday 19th. So it'll be a done deal - nothing Keighley can do after that. You must be able to see this pattern of behaviour...? The RFL is a corrupt organisation and we have been right royally Donald Ducked.
.
Thank you for your support by the way and I really did mean no offence.

Exactly how I see it CDC. They have full time media officers who are good at spin which ultimately will end up us being alienated. As Demon says 'I used to have sympathy for you...I don't care about league 1'. That will summarise feelings in a few months!
