Help Save York City Knights : Mon Mar 30, 2015 8:45 am
I’m sure you'll all be aware of the issues currently surrounding York City Knights, for info it’s all detailed here:

http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/1170553 ... ugby_club/

http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/sport/yorkcityknights/

The city of York council gave full planning permission on Friday for a new 8000 capacity community stadium, this planning permission was given despite a 29 page objection being submitted at the 11th hour by the owner of York City Knights, John Guildford. Guildford also went on to speak at the meeting, lodging his objection to the stadium in a less than eloquent manner. These objections proved totally fruitless and only further enhanced the councils position against him.

Our first league game is on Good Friday and as of now we have nowhere to play home games and absolutely no chance of anywhere to play with the current owner in place due to his actions.

We have a local businessman, Jason McGill, who is also owner of York City FC wanting to take over the club but as of yet Guildford has refused to enter into negotiations with him. The RFL are fully aware of his intentions and business case but will not assist in a takeover, if this takeover doesn’t happen we’re basically stuffed. No pro-RL club in York.

Some fans have set up a petition and while it might not do anything (1m+ signatures didn’t keep Clarkson in a job!) it something to put forward to the RFL to show what Rugby League supporters want for the club in York.

Link is below, we would appreciate your support.

I have only been wrong once and thats because I thought I was wrong but I was wrong I was right!

Petty authoritarians aren’t man enough to challenge the actions of a person face to face; instead they incite a forum of rumour, innuendo and half truths, and impose rude sanctions to discourage those who dare question fairness.

It's difficult for fans of another club to know what's going on at York - Guilford v the council and football club, but I hope you get it sorted. The new stadium looks good.

I'm not a fan of stadiums managed by third parties, I understand the advantages but you never seem in control of your own destiny (plus someone else grabs the bar/food revenue.

Once again I hope you get it sorted in a manner that helps you move forward.

Whatever happened to Huntington Stadium?

I was there when Keighley first played there, wasn't that impressed for a new stadium but light years ahead of a lot at the time.

Also it seems someone benefits immensely when York are trouble.Who gained from Wigginton Road?

The new stadium is being developed from the existing (Huntington) stadium.

This appears to be part of the problem - unless York (Guilford) agree withe the council and football club they are homeless.

I don't know too much about the saga, but the newspaper article reads that the council now refuse to negotiate with Guilford. Depending on how you read it he is either trying to line his own pockets or is preventing the RL club from being shafted.

Seems like a familiar scenario is sport.

I'm even more confused.
I thought it was Rydale Council that owned the ground and they is why they started as Rydale York.
Have the shysters been involved again?
