A Nice little trip out for Cougar Fans ... : Sat Sep 13, 2014 9:53 am
Anyone fancy a trip out to p** off the RFL, should things not go our way ... If a few folk fancy it I can sort out a minibus :-)

Image

The Voice of the Fans event, hosted by Supporters Direct, provides a platform for Rugby League fans to debate the key issues and challenges facing the modern game.

The event, held at a Huddersfield University (Heritage Quay) on the 25th October 2014, will invite fans to unite and develop a path for developing the future of Rugby League.

Super League General Manager Blake Solly will open the event with a keynote about forthcoming changes to the league. Attendees will then have the chance to learn about how the RL’s Heritage Programme is committed to conserving the past and providing access to the games rich history.

Supporters Direct will be delivering a session on the Supporters’ Trust movement and how it is integral to delivering robust club and supporter relations. This includes a dedicated session on Supporter Liaison Officers following the success of the role in other sports across Europe.

The closing session provides attendees with a unique opportunity to speak directly with the game’s governing body. The fan consultation session, hosted by the RFL, will be asking fans what they can do better, what they need to focus on and how they need to change to be more accountable to supporters to deliver a game fit for the future.
This is a must attend event for Rugby League fans and a fantastic day out at the new lottery funded Heritage Quay in Huddersfield.

Tickets are available from just £5* per person and include lunch. Don’t miss your chance to have your voice heard.

Click here to book your place now!

*Supporters Direct Members £5, General Admission £10

Re: A Nice little trip out for Cougar Fans ... : Sat Sep 13, 2014 8:59 pm
What a brilliant 'Post' Rach.

October 25th?I'll see what I can do.

My main reason? Because the 'great' (I think not) Mr Solly has baffled my brains with complete 'B******t' sine I first made contact with him in March this year about 'Dual Registration'. Will he actually answer any/all questions honestly? I wait to be convinced. After all, wasn't it under his jurisdiction that the completely unfair 'Dual Registration' farce was implemented? If you would like to see his responses then I will publish them.

I, like many other faithful supporters of (what used to be) 'The Greatest Game', before the current 'lot' gained power, have NO FAITH in the current Board of Directors.

They have assumed a new 'Court of the Star Chamber' status, where their decisions cannot be questioned, irrespective of how wrong they might be. They refuse to release any details of their decisions! Why? If they have nothing to hide the they have nothing to lose.

Who are they?

Check their histories on whatever internet search engine that you wish and see what they have done, in their former careers, to entitle them to become Directors of the Rugby Football League. What knowledge of 'OUR GAME' do they have? What do the supporters of their former Clubs say about them (that is if they have ever been a member or supporter of Rugby League before their appointment to the Board of Directors).

To my way of thinking, it seems to be a case of: 'It's not WHAT you know, but WHO you know'; as is the case in most Organisations throughout the UK.

How are 'Directors' appointed to the Board of the RFL? Who knows? I even think that will a matter that the RFL will refuse to reveal!

Whatever happens, it will be an interesting Meeting in any case, given the following comment:

The closing session provides attendees with a unique opportunity to speak directly with the game’s governing body. The fan consultation session, hosted by the RFL, will be asking fans what they can do better, what they need to focus on and how they need to change to be more accountable to supporters to deliver a game fit for the future.

I would assume that this will be the results of the recent 'Market Survey',commissioned by Neil Craig, (of the RFL) to ascertain just what the fans and supporters of the game think about the Administration of the Game.

Well, even before October, just like any of his colleagues at the RFL, there has been a 'Deafening Silence' to my requests, on every occasion, for a response to my queries about the conduct of the Board of Directors.

If you feel the same then I have created this snippet of comments from the Petition and would ask the Directors of the RFL to: Simply visit 'RLFans Keighley Cougars' and then click on 'Petition' and you will discover what you want (sorry, I would assume 'DON'T WANT') to hear.

Some of the comments (out of almost 1600 who have signed the Petition to date) follow:

Gaining an advantage over another team by breaking the rules is to disrespect the entire ethos of any sport. By not punishing the offenders our own sport's governing body shows terrible lack of understanding that sport only works if all participants abide by the set rules. D.S. York
Rules were clearly broken and the offenders went unpunished! And an innocent party are feeling the consequences! Rules are there to be abided by! L.H. Workington
" RULES" unfortunately these days in rfl and arlf they don't seem to exist to a certain extent!! Keighley as a community have a great passion and support for Keighley cougars and have done for generations. But how can we guide the juniors/youths of arlf who are our next generation of rlf & arfl if failure to enforce punishment on clubs guilty for a serious breach of league rules. As we all know the sporting world, whatever it may be, struggle financially and due to the economy of today sponsorship is very hard to find as businesses struggle. So when rules have been "breached" what hope have we got!! A damn good shake up in rfl is what's needed. C.D. Haworth
Clubs shouldn't be able to gain an advantage by breaking the laws of the game D.B. Atherton
the lack of punishment seems unjustified and creates an unfair advantage S.H. Hull
Cannot believe the RFL are so spineless in this case. It is unjust and any right minded individual would agree with this petition M.I. Goldsborough
Because the decision to give back the points was inept and, simply, wrong B.W. Bradford
They suffered at the hands of other teams cheating and did nothing wrong themselves, totally wrong! N.B. Sheffield
I don't think clubs who break the rules should get away with it R.M. Doncaster
Constantly changing the boundaries about rules is of no help to any rugby league club. It was too late to do anything about previous years misdemeanours but when both Batley and Doncaster are cited on a serious matter, to have points deducted and then reinstated leaving both clubs unpunished in any way is fundamentally wrong. It opens the floodgates for any club to do as it pleases in future and because of this ruling no further breaches can be punished. The rules are there for a purpose and should be adhered to. Keighley should be reinstated and the point deductions should have stood. J.C. Sheffield
The integrity of the game is at stake A.H. Halifax
Rules are there to be adhered to. Typical RLFC powers to be no rubbish, waste of space. All resign. S.E. Sheffield
Sheffield Eagles supporter - Cheats should not prosper. Get Batley relegated. A.S. Sheffield
It's just wrong. Just like the difference in punishment for indiscipline between the championship and super league. N.C. Halifax
It's not just about Keighley, it's time RL got it's act together. Clubs know the rules and ignorance is no excuse. G.C. Leeds
I am fed up of my home town club being treated like second class rugby league club. It happened before when the cougars were declined entry into the newly formed super league. This is a blatant disregard to the rules and the ethos of the game. Two clubs have committed massive rule breaches and have been given a reprieve at the cost of a team that played fairly by the rules all season. M.R. Pimperne
Rfl could not run a bath.. disgrace. S.H. Kellington
why have rules if you don't take action when broken, you may as well not have a governing body if this is how they deal with rule breakers C.S. Halifax
Rules being ignored make the game look juvenile. Keighley are paying the price for the actions of another club who have benefited from breaking a league rule. My own club was rightly disqualified from the challenge cup a few years ago for a similar breach of the league rules. The punishment was excepted by the club and fans as it was nobodys fault but the clubs. If the game wants to be taken serious then it needs a strong governing body that punish clubs for their actions. Unfortunately this does not seem to be the case with the people who run Rugby league. N.E. Halifax
I agree with the comments made by the Cougar supporters the RFL are useless and make the rules up as they go along. B.P. Walton-on-Thames
You cannot change a rule with only a few matches remain. Batley and Doncaster did not play to the rules! G.L. Harrogate
I am disgusted by the way the RFL handled this matter and failed to punish the teams that broke the rules. A.M. Sheffield
The reason given by the RFL for reinstating the two teams points makes a mockery of the rules for selecting players as they stood.Dual registration always had it's weaknesses, Sadly these weaknesses have unfairly caused Keighley serious damage. G.B. Darrington

A comment from Alistair Campbell, a son of Keighley, who penned an article, which was published in 'The Times' a few years ago, has signed the Petition and stated:

Alastair Campbell LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM

Cougars are being unfairly treated

So what is wrong in Rugby League?

It's the Directors who, apparently, set themselves-up as being omnipotent!

'Nuff said for the present, but I hope that every true Rugby League supporter feels the same as me.

Please feel free to copy my comments on as many 'RLFans' Forums as you feel fit in the hope that WE can bring about change.

I'd direct all questions to Nigel and Ralph. Blake is now solely in charge of Super League and has no involvement in the lower leagues to my understanding.

But I started my discussion with Blake when he was the 'Responsible Officer' but ignored all of my attempts to make contact until I embarrassed him into actually responding.

Even now, I copy him in on my emails, of which he actually acknowledges receipt'. Quit surprising really. He must have a conscience, but possibly not.

The rest of the 'so-called' Administrators don't have the decency to respond, despite the general email address acknowledging receipt of my emails.

'Not fit for purpose'. Certainly, but they make all of the Rules and the majority of Clubs just sit back and toe-the-line because they are afraid of the consequences.
