Freddie's Friends and the Rovers Supporters' Trust have teamed up to take part in a sponsored cycle ride to raise funds for both organisations. The event will take place on August 16th 2013 were members of the RST will be taking part in the 71.2 mile bike ride, which coincides with the Super League clash between Leeds Rhinos and Hull Kingston Rovers. Rachel Appleyard of Freddie’s Friends said “We are delighted that the RST has chosen Freddie’s Friends as their charity for 2013 and we are looking forward to supporting several events planned throughout the year. This is a tough challenge to start with and we hope all riders arrive at Headingley in time for the start of the game!” Ben O’Donnell of the RST said "The Rovers Supporters' Trust is dedicated to working in the community and are delighted to have made a connection with a local charity, Freddie’s Friends. We hope together we can raise awareness for their cause and help raise funds which will help children who may be in the same situation as little Freddie. Even small amounts of sponsorship can help make a difference to a child's comfort and lifestyle. We call on as many fans as possible to make a donation, however small to this sponsored bike ride to Headingley." All monies raised will be shared equally between Freddie's Friends who raise funds to provide local disabled children with equipment, specialist toys, therapy’s, short breaks and any help needed by families with special children and the Rovers Supporters’ Trust which is a formal and independent, wholly professional, democratic and not-for-profit organisation of fans that aims to benefit Hull Kingston Rovers and its supporters by providing a means for the club’s loyal fans to influence the running of the club they support.
