Solheim Cup 2011 : Thu Sep 22, 2011 4:02 pm
Opening Ceremony about to begin. Play begins tomorrow morning. The Yanks are odds-on favourites with plenty of players in the Top 10 compared to our 1 but I like the look of our team and we're on good form so at 9/4 well worth a few quid.

Melissa Reid
Laura Davies
Suzann Pettersen
Christel Boeljon
Maria Hjorth
Anna Nordqvist
Catriona Matthew
Sophie Gustafson

Karen Stupples
Sandra Gal

Team USA

Cristie Kerr
Stacy Lewis
Morgan Pressel
Angela Stanford
Paula Creamer

Yep America definitely have the far better looking team. Suzann Pettersen though :P.

Glad to see Sorenstam involved -looking her age now though.

Re: Solheim Cup 2011 : Fri Sep 23, 2011 11:48 am
Wow - what a pulsating morning of Golf. So many twists and turns, Europe looked on course for a 3 - 1 lead but Reid & Stupples choked a bit. Then it even looked like Inkster was going to win the last match for the Americans but Petterson showed nerves of steel to hole the winning putt. Been a great morning - definitely recommend watching the afternoon fourballs.

Morning Foursomes Results

Maria Hjorth & Anna Nordqvist (EUROPE) lost 2&1 to Michelle Wie & Cristie Kerr (USA)

Karen Stupples & Melissa Reid (EUROPE) lost 1up to Paula Creamer and Brittany Lincicome (USA)

Catriona Matthew and Azahara Munoz (EUROPE) won 3&2 over Stacy Lewis and Angela Stanford (USA)

Suzann Petterson and Sophie Gustaffson (EUROPE) won 1up over Juli Inkster and Britanny Lang (USA)

Score after Day1 Foursomes: EUROPE 2 - 2 USA

Afternoon Fourball Pairings

Laura Davies & Melissa Reid (EUROPE) vs Paula Creamer and Morgan Pressel (USA)

Catriona Matthew & Sandra Gal (EUROPE) vs Christina Kim & Ryann O'Toole (USA)

Sophie Gustafson & Caroline Hedwall (EUROPE) vs Vicky Hurst & Brittany Lincicome (USA)

Suzann Petterson & Maria Nordqvist (EUROPE) vs Michelle Wie & Cristie Kerr (USA)

COME ON EUROPE!

Christina Kim, ugly as sin and loud as fook :SHOOT:

If I ever met her on a course I'd be tempted to shove her into a pond or get that red lobster bloke to run her over with a volkswagon beetle.. :MOTOR:

Re: Solheim Cup 2011 : Fri Sep 23, 2011 11:25 pm
Was a good day of Golf. Europe deservedly lead but should really be 2/3pts clear by now. Creamer is one hell of a competitor, reminds me of Golf's version of Maria Sharapova, just never know when she's beaten.

Think we could do with going into the singles at least 2pts clear.

Bit disappointed with our choices for the Morning Foursomes. Suzann Petterson is by far our best player and frankly she looked it today.

Caroline Hedwall & Sophie Gustafson vs Angela Stanford & Stacy Lewis. (Hedwall & Gustafson played brilliantly together in the fourballs to win 5&4, whilst Stanford and Lewis were supposedly one of the stronger US pairings but lost 3&2 to Matthew and Munoz. Optimistic for a European Point here.)

Karen Stupples & Christel Boeljon vs Ryann O'Toole & Morgan Pressel. (Stupples played a good 14 holes of foursomes yesterdya, but then folded appallingly to lose the match. Boeljon's 1st match of the Cup so far. O'Toole and Pressel both played very well in the fourballs, with O'Toole particularly impressive, despite being paired with Rikishi Kim ;) Would favour the Americans here but Boeljon is a talented player.

Maria Hjorth & Anna Nordqvist vs Brittany Lang & Juli Inkster. (Hjorth & Nordqvist played pretty well and had chances to beat Wie & Kerr in the foursomes before losing, with Nordqvist teaming up with Petterson in the fourballs to gain revenge against the same pair. Lang & Inkster played the foursomes and were only denied a great fightback by a stunning Petterson putt. Should be a great match. Hopeful for a Europe point.

Catriona Matthew & Azahara Munoz vs Cristie Kerr & Paula Creamer. (Matthew & Munoz played day 1's foursomes and played superbly to beat Lewis & Stanford. Matthew then teamed up with Sandra Gal to gain a half in the fourballs. Kerr as mentioned won with Wie in the foursomes before losing to Petterson and Nordqvist in the fourballs, whilst Paula Creamer was simply fantastic yesterday. A mix of good golf and that fierce competitiveness she has. Should be a close match. Munoz and Matthew played superbly yesterday morning and if they can repeat will fancy their chances.

Ole Ole Ole! :)
