What do we think about this new Under 21 Premier League idea? What are the groupings based on? Random selection, quality of youth players produced or quality of facilities?
Group 1:
Arsenal, Blackburn, Bolton, Everton, Norwich, Reading, West Brom, West Ham
Group 2:
Aston Villa, Man United, Newcastle, Southampton, Stoke, Sunderland, Tottenham
Group 3:
Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Fulham, Liverpool, Man City, Middlesborough, Wolves
Teams play each other home and away then the top 3 from groups 1 and 2 and the top 2 from group 3 go into an Elite League for the second half of the season, the others falling into a qualification group 1 and 2 depending on where they finished. Three semi finalists then come from the Elite League and the final place comes from the winner of a play off between qualification group 2 and 3.
There is then a Grand Final for the Under 21 Premier League.
Interesting, very, very interesting. Is this perhaps a test bed for having a GF in the Premier League?
