Why when Utd get a favourable decision, the ref is a homer etc, but when an incident happens such as the Suarez 'handball' goal, it's seen as an honest mistake by the ref?

Let's face it, he'll get a very soft ''talking to''. Rodgers wouldn't dare upset him, Liverpool would be screwed without him.

Well, Suarez's was so obvious, it had to be a mistake. With regards to United, they often get a lot of 50/50 calls and it's generally seen as the ref giving in to the fans. Last night's handball being a great example.

I thought this homefield bias had been proved recently (i.e. big teams get more injury time than little clubs) so it's to be expected. If it happens with additional minutes then logic suggests it will happen with other decisions as well e.g. penalties. Can't see how you can stop it. The refs are as objective as they can be but I'm sure when you're out there and the adrenalin is flowing from the stands back onto the pitch it must be nigh on impossible not to subconsciously get swept up in it.

"Thanks for getting us into the Premier League within two seasons, Nigel. Oh, and thanks for getting us playing some nice stuff and getting us into a position where we might conceivably stay up. Not good enough - you're sacked."

Scenes from Southampton earlier today.

apparently adkins had the best win ratio of any manager in southampton's history - obviously not good enough for some people

do we need any more proof that football has gone mad?

Be interesting to see whether Pochettino can get any more out of a moderately talented bunch of players.

His record at Espanyol this season (9 points from 13 games?) doesn't suggest someone whose star is on the rise.

Unless, as we decided in the office, that Adkins has been doinking the chairman's daughter...
