.......Not my first choice personally, but of the Englishman available, Hodgson is the best.

Will be interesting how the media react though......I fear they won't take well to their beloved twitchy-eyed one being ignored, and will soon turn their wrath on Hodgson, when things inevitably go wrong results-wise.

The one thing Hodgson will do, is get England to play to their few strengths- It won't be pretty, but it will give us our best chance of any decent results.....Harry would have tried to have us playing some extravagant free flowing football, which would have seen us being laughably picked off by the better teams, similar to how Real embarrassed his Tottenham side last year.

I don't think i've ever seen a more gutless performance from a team needing a win than the one witnessed at WHL today from Rovers.All I can say if the media and football people were disgusted with the treatment given to Kean at the Bolton game the better not watch next monday night when Wigan beat us as it will be a lot worse than what happened in November.I think Kean might be better managing from the stands rather than the touchline as the atmosphere will not be nice as soon as Wigan score their 1st goal.

Of the Englishmen I think Woy is the best man for the job, but whoever it is needs a good start to get people around from the idea of it not being 'Arry.

The FA really did set themselves up when they said they wanted somebody English.

For me, for the time the coach has to spend with the squad, Hiddink really was the best choice. He would have at least had everybody working and the squad looking fit. Hodgson gets results from what he had, but his appointment smells eerily similar to his appointment at Liverpool. An experienced head that would come in and say yes, do as he's told and keep steady. The owners didn't want a demanding manager, a man that would stir in the media or somebody that wanted to oversee an overhaul, they needed a yes man with enough credibility to avoid being panned in the media. Roy is effectively this man for England, he will do as the FA say, he won't question them like Capello. He will let them have their favourites in the team, he will say all the right stuff in the press and he has a bwilliant accent, which we all know means everything in football. Oh, and he has a plan B.

Yeah, because Dalglish is a yes man, a man that didn't want to oversee an overhaul, a man that didn't want to push us on to try and achieve, and he clearly didn't ask the owners to spend money, we've only spent about a £100m since they've been here.

Whether you think Dalglish is a good manager or not is irrelevant, he clearly wasn't brought to Liverpool for the same reasons Roy was.
