I'm not too sure why Carragher is taking so much stick, for me the defence was solid enough tonight. In attack however we looked clueless as soon as we made it to their box. Heskey shouldn't be there; the opposition have realised he doesn't have the confidence to even shoot, let alone the ability to score, so their not concerned about him. Rooney has been poor both games, and his comments, although clearly just a sign of frustration, were unwarranted; as has been said, England fans pay a hell of a lot of money to go out there, if they see rubbish on the field, they have every right to boo at the end of the game.
Capello is not doing himself any favours. His claim well in advance of the finals was that he would pick players who are playing well, and playing regularly. On that note, why are Wright-Phillips or Heskey anywhere near the squad? I don't agree with the calls to take off Rooney tonight; let's face it, he's still our best chance of making something, but changes should have been made earlier than they were. For me, Lampard has been poor both games, I'd have had him off by the hour mark today. Get Joe Cole on to give us some real width on the left, and allow Gerrard the freedom in the middle to do what he does best. Swapping Lennon for SWP was just a total waste of a substitution.
I still think we'll qualify, but a last 16 exit at the hands of Germany is the best we can expect, unless we scrap this 4-4-2 rubbish, and get some enthusiasm.
