I imagine he'd sit down with a bunch of DVDs of previous training sessions, players in action and all that before excusing himself, climbing out of the bathroom window and scarpering.

Whilst the Real Madrid job is about having a plan B and getting the best from a bunch of Average Joes?

It'll be really interesting to see how Vilanova goes. It's an open secret here that he's taken charge of training sessions and been in charge for friendlies. Apparently Sandro Rossell offered Guardiola a blank cheque to stay. Will he be as generous with Vilanova?

Seriously, (I was actually being a tad light-hearted originally) its quite a sensible appointment.....Why change something that doesn't really need messing with - Its the old style Liverpool management change of simply promoting from within. Its probably something that Man Utd would probably prefer to do when Fergie goes, only they don't seem to have anybody with the character or personality to step up at present - Querioz was probably the closest they got to a natural successor.

Using Barca's requirements there are loads of people United could appoint - Hughes, Keane, Beckham, Cantona, Bruce, Robson....

United also have a requirement of proof that you can manage as well though.

Barca make Roman Abramovich look sensible.

Roddy's just touchy because he was probably hoping that Barca would rescue the Fat Waiter to vindicate him.

Nah, it just makes me laugh when people criticise them for crazy reasons.

Whilst going for a similar appointment does make sense, questions will still have to be asked of Vilanova. I know nothing of him, but does he have the similar attention to detail like Guardiola? Will the dressing room take him on and give him the immediate respect like they did with Pep? Clearly, they don't have a poor dressing room so Vilanova will walk into a pretty healthy atmosphere, but their wafer thin defence definitely needs help.

Wouldn't be the worst appointment. Two-time La Liga winning coach with a Big Ears in there for good measure, but if Barca feel they have something working by recruiting within, then more power to them, their record in Europe and Spain over recent seasons is unmatched so they must be doing something right.
