Must admit it's a bit baffling that one. £20million player spends most of first season with the club physio. He recovers and.. is sent out on loan
I can't believe he isn't good enough to get in the Liverpool midfield.
New midfielder came, was playing in November, waited about 5 months to get a chance, was the brightest part of the team in a dire finish to the season. Result? Loaned out to Juve. Not sold, not player traded, but loaned!
I'm not gonna contradict myself, I said before he came and when he came, my biggest fear with Roy was his ability in the transfer market and the type of player he likes to manage. Look at what he signed at Fulham, it's scary, then I see us signing Poulsen and trying to sign Luke Young/Konchesky/Figueroa, it's scary what type of player he's deeming good enough for us.
Aquilani - on pure footballing talent - is right up there with the best in the league, in terms of passing, touch, technique, vision and sheer ability, he is immense, whilst he shown last season he has terrific energy levels. I refuse to believe he's too 'lightweight' and I refuse to believe it's a fitness thing. He's better than Joe Cole, so I can't understand what Roy's motive is by letting him go.
