Just calling it as I see it fella. Silva was woeful. Tevez did well with no support, Silva didn't. All I know is that he wasn't a prominent member if the world cup winning side and on that I can see why. Against Blackpool he looks immense though. Probably still settling in.
. I'd rather see united players win things for club than country, especially when the country is Spain.
Silva wasn’t woeful. He was better than Tevez in that game IMO. Tevez’s distribution was poor and he lost the ball often. TBF to him, he was bound to lose the ball a fair amount as he lacked support and he is clearly unfit. As for Silva, a creative player will always struggle if he has no-one infront of him. When we get bodies forward in games, Silva is magic.
Silva and Tevez’s two worst performances this season have been against United and Tottenham. I don’t think it is a coincidence that in both of these games, we displayed a lack of ambition in our play.
The rumours are that Silva was essentially dropped by Spain for negotiating a transfer during the early part of the WC. Another point worth noting is that to get in the team, he has to unsurp Villa, Iniesta or Xavi when Torres plays. IMO three of the top 5 players in the world.
I think you will also find that in recent games, Silva has been a starter for Spain.
if you'd have seen some of our midfield performances you would see the stark improvement in MC and Fletch. Fletcher has been disappointing this season and Carrick has been woeful since the middle of last season. Comparing them two Yaya, Barry & De Jong they were like Xavi & Iniesta.
I see.
To me, the best City players at Eastlands on Wednesday, were Zabaleta and Kompany. The rest were average at best. Maybe we could have had stronger performances if we had rested half of our squad for a week or so
No player from either team stood out as having a great performance.
Barry and De Jong were solid. They pretty much stopped any meaningful attack. Toure….I honestly don’t think he understands his role. He often looks like he doesn’t know where Mancini wants him to be in different situations. This may explain why a couple of teammates have had a pop at him during games. He should play in a deeper role and we should move Milner into Barry’s position. We need more thrust from midfield.
It was also a mistake of Mancini to play Toure as he has been injured. He returned from injury in our game against West Brom (and was our best player that day along with Silva). He shouldn’t have played a full game three days later.
Like I said earlier in this thread, that midfield will work if we have two flying full-backs. ATM we don’t, so there is a lack of balance between attack and defence.
I see Mancini getting a lot if stick, but I think a lot if it is unjust. Every team in the league think they could be doing better, but at the rnd of the day Cuty are looking solid. Kompany is class at the back and the defence is well protected. I can see improvements are being made. At the end of the day you can't expect to win everything straight away. City have won nothing for 34 years.
Mancini has had some stick, mainly for his negative tactics and over-reliance on Tevez. TBF to him, he has brought in 7 players, with four of those being new to England and played no more than 10 games each – mainly due to injury. He needs to be given more time to develop a pattern of play and for the players to get used to playing together.
The majority support but Mancini but there are a vocal minority who don’t like him because we play boring football. These are probably the same people who want/wanted Mourihno. Correct me if I am wrong, but I heard the Inter fans preferred Mancini to Mourihno as he played more attacking football.
I think some City fans have to remember that when we have gone gung-ho and played just two in midfield during games (which is rare), we have looked vulnerable. The best example being the second-half against Newcastle. Granted we scored from a piece of magic by Johnson, but we could easily have conceded three or four and we created no more chances.
Kompany is arguably the form centre-half in the PL. He’s been outstanding this season, although he has had a couple of shaky moments in the last two weeks or so. I think Kolo Toure should be given some credit too. IMO he’s playing as well as he did during the season Arsenal were unbeaten. It’s been a big turnaround because under Hughes, Toure was terrible. Toure also brings out the best of Kompany.
Fergies tactics were crap last night as well. Park and Nani didn't support Berb at all, the pea was introduced too late and for the wrong player. Shame that Rafa and Evra were forced off which limited him but still.
I know we got some deserved stick for being negative but the press made out that United were taking chances and showing ambition. IMO United were equally negative. Although I accept that as the home team the onus is on us to show more ambition.
