Whether Shields is innocent or not I don't know. I do know that Jack Straw's explnation of his decision is pathetically weak though.

That isnt the only evidence that came to light, that was the tip of the iceberg, but dont let that get in the way of your hatred towards all things liverpool

No idea, but according to Jack Straw the police uncovered more evidence but wont say. Of course, Jack Straw could be lying, which im sure LGJM will claim is correct.

I don't see the resoning behind Straw not coming out with this new evidence. On the face of it, it seems that public pressure has got Shields released. Straw should now come out and prove that is not the case. The evidence from Bulgaria (which we we know about) points to a guilty verdict being the correct one.
