They sneaked past Sunderland last term, but that performance was probably worse than the one at WHL yesterday.

I would be amazed if he is included as part of any deal. He did sign a five-year contract and he stated that he knows he will need to improve to get a starting spot. Thus he seems happy to bide his time on the fringes of the squad.

I'd rather Hughes not make such comments but Moyes has spent the last two or three weeks criticising MCFC and Mark Hughes, as well as our owners. Hughes just brushed off Moyes' comments in the last few weeks. But he knows that his recent sly dig will have hurt Moyes and Everton fans / "The People".

Hughes has made Moyes and Ferguson look a bit silly these last few weeks. I still have doubts about Hughes' tactical ability but he is showing himself to be far more intelligent than Moyes and Ferguson.

I don't have an agenda, I just thought it seemed a bit beneath him to engage in that way.

As you say, up until now the way he has brushed off comments and got on with things has been spot on. ATEOTD day he's now up there to be shot at due to circumstances outside of his influence. It's not even like he took on the job because of the potential for playing fantasy football and bullying other clubs, he was there before the big money and has been blessed with the opportunity since. I just think that at this stage with all the petty mudslinging, getting it together on the pitch would hurt the other teams far more than stooping to genital measuring, and he could come out of it looking the better man in the process.

I'm talking their first game. All I'm saying is that there is no need to resort to panic stations.

Which, if you watch his interview, rather than reading the summary of the interview, you'll find he did.

I don't think Hughes said a thing wrong. I don't even think he made the comment that Citeh were a bigger club trying to buy one of Everton's players - that was simply the BBC Journos summing up of his comments.

Is that the same interview the quote is supposedly from? If so, it really doesn't seem to tally and I agree he's been completely misrepresented, as he mentions nothing of club size or specifics. I must admit I'm without internet access at home at the moment so until today had only seen the reports on teletext and heard the radio bulletins.

See my next post. If that's all he said he got it spot on again.
