He doesn't have to realise anything Alonso has 3-4 years left on his contract the franco cnuts can pay up or leave it and we will keep him.

Would you really want to keep a player that obviously doesn't want to be at the club? SAF saw that Ronaldos heart wasn't in it last season so we sold him to real (i think he'll comeback within the next 5 years though).

Remeber what Blatter said about keeping a player against his will should be classed as slavery?

Widnes will be glad to get away from Leigh. They've been regularly pumped, roasted and left in the alley-way by the lobbygobblers. Talk about being bitched - what a torrid time they've had. They'll be looking for some A&E rest time for the next three years at least.

Considering it's a World Cup year, I don't think it'd be in Alonso's best interest to sulk/play poorly/rot in the reserves if Liverpool were to refuse a transfer this summer. This is why I think Benitez should stand firm amidst all the speculation. He should tell Real to cough up the £35mill or Alonso stays.

I wouldn't mind being a slave if I was earning more in a mornings work than I'm currently earning in a year. :)

Maybe he thinks his WC chances will be improved playing in Spain with one of the top clubs?
It's a strange one for me as Alan Brazil mentioned months ago that Gerrard and Alonso had a massive training ground bust up and that Alonso would be on his way in the summer, also if you keep hold of him and let his contract run down you may be lucky to get £15m. I think Alonso is one of the most important players you guys have and could be the difference between top two and top four next season. I doubt you'll get £35m for him i'd say it'll end up around the £25m mark which will still be a big profit

The hardest thing to replace will be how many players he gets sent off a season? I think Liverpool won 7 games when people were sent off for fouling Alonso, thats a lot of points lost.

Just been thinking. What made YOU feel the way you do about the club you support.

Well my mum is an armchair Liverpool fan and my dad supports Tottenham, having been born about a mile from White Hart Lane, so naturally I support West Ham. :D

I remember watching footy with my dad as a nipper and I just liked the way they played the game. I also found the name to be hilarious - who names their team after cooked meat? Well I was only about 5 at the time.

But I don't think it was really until the mid 80's that I fell for them completely - I was always so focussed on TGG and on Hull. But the Tony Cottee-Frank McAvennie combo finally pushed me into the realms of a real fan. I still remember standing on a beach in Ibiza reading some blokes paper over his shoulder about how Cottee had signed for Everton and feeling absolutely heartbroken. :(

So we'll spend £15-£20 million Aquilani and bench him? Get a grip. Also, bear in mid that if we do sign Aquilani and sell Alonso we will still have £20 million to spend. When fit our starting XI could look like this:

Reina

Johnson
Agger
Carragher
Aurelio

Mascherano
Aquilani

Kuyt
Gerrard
Silva

Torres.

Bench:
Lucas
Benayoun
Babel
Reira
Skrtel
Insua
Cavalieri

Squad:
N'Gog
Pacheco
Spearing
Degen

Plenty good enough.

We have no hope in signing David Silva. He doesent want a move to England!

I think it was the subtle humour of the writers that did it more than anything. It was kind of groundbreaking in sports magazines at the time and was the first publication to cross the style of serious football magazines with the fanzine.

It's demise left a huge hole that has never been filled.
