Nothing pedantic about it, we haven't made a bid for either player so how can we be refused? The only linking would be buy the press which is pure speculation.

Never slagged Owen off, I slagged that joke of a manager you had who played him behind two strikers, I was of the belief that you play your best striker as a striker.
Wes was in good form last year, but since he's been injured Johnson has firmly claimed the right back position with a lot of impressive displays. Wes was playing well in the form side in Europe, but WTF has England got to do with anything? I think Johnson is a superior right back to Wes Brown, but if you think Wes Brown's better, nice one, but it ain't a FACT that Johnson is a second choice, because he's played regularly for most of the season, and I'm pretty sure he was in the team of the season.
Honestly now, I have never seen where Joorabchian has confirmed we were interested or we'd made an offer, I remember Sky Sports saying we were apparently in the running, but if you can show me where he said we want/wanted him, then I'd happily accept that, as I might have missed it.
As for Barry, well I'd have thought if we were to sign him, we'd have let Alonso go as well. It seems from the very off this summer that Rafa and the club have been adamant Alonso isn't going anywhere. I don't remember seeing anything about us having a bid accepted for Barry, or even making a bid for Barry this year.
But even so, even if our two apparent top targets have gone to Man City, WTF does that mean? Our main target this summer is keeping hold of our stars, you've lost two of yours - one to Man City after he rejected you, yet somehow we're the ones losing our targets to Man City?
I'm not gutted about Owen, I was never his biggest fan when at the club, as soon as he left for Madrid, that's where I completely lost all interest, from then on he's been on the downward slope.
Gill and Fergie knew Tevez was going to refuse any contract we offered him due to his dummy spit at being a sub, the original point was us losing our stars to Madrid, whereas I replied not as bad as losing them to city. It's refreshing to see your bitter side though Rob ,I didn't think you had one. now it is pouring out of you. I remember your post a few pages back about his chances, 29% shot's to goal...most accurate in the premiership.

No bid was made though, so we didn't even speak to the player. Only one team has had a bid accepted. Their may have been enquirys looking at though nothing concrete.

Bit gutted, as he's playing for the biggest of rivals, but then again, it's nice to see him in the league, I hope for his sake his career is revived, and i'd like to see him back in the England frame.
