The ball is played out of play by the opposition. There are 4 minutes of injury time. You are going to give the ball back to the opposition, because that's the right thing to do.

But how do you give the ball back?

If you're a stupid Chelsea player, you kick the ball down the touchline, making the goalkeeper have to go 30 metre to retrieve the ball, 30m back to the area, and wait 10 seconds for your other striker to make him pick the ball up.

You just can't get more stupid than that. You do that if you're 1-0 in injury time. You don't do it when you're 1 down.
