Why didnt he answer me and where are these examples I asked for.
Until rugby hits the dizzy heights of rugby league and its homophobic chanting, racial insults all over the place, gang rape, alochol fuelled violence, defecating in public places and smashing a glass in your girlfriends face, im not going to worry too much.

Hardly the fault of a game that some of its practitioners behave badly. There's not exactly a correlation.
Compare it to AFL with its...er...racial insults all over the place, alcohol-fuelled violence, and possibly the rest.
Or football, which I also enjoy, with its history of hooliganism, homophobia, racial insults (now mainly gone), alcohol-fuelled violence, use of prostitutes, suspcious shipments of grain and (on several occasions, caused by players) people's deaths.
Or rugby union with its history of people getting away with eye-gouging attempts, weird training camps involving hazing and semi-torture, hitting people with handbags, and sucking coins to try and avoid being done for drink-driving.
Or baseball with its corruption, racism and alleged use of steroids.
Or American football with its group sex and dog-fighting.
Or....I could go on. Ultimately, professional sportspeople are pretty strange compared to the rest of us. It doesn't make the sport itself the source of all evil.
I'll make an exception for golf- tedious, and most of its professionals seem devoid of personality as well.

You are right. But seeing as this is nothing more than a rugby bashing thread, I thought I would even up the odds. Its funny, but of the rugby forums I browse there is never ever any rugby league bashing, just a growing respect for the sport and an admiration for the players of any level.
I guess rugby fans arent as narrow minded as rugby league fans, nor do they have that massive chip on their shoulder. I wonder at times how CJ manages to walk straight with the weight of that chip on his shoulder.

Perhaps it might have something to do with league not trying to destroy yawnion for 115 years? Yawnion fans have nothing to moan about, apart from a crap product, however as that is only a small part of the experience it doesn't seem to matter.

Dude, its 2010, not 1980
Do you hate the germans as much as the RFU? Why isnt there a taliban bashing thread?
From Hammersmith to the Shire to LA to the world!! Goodbye!

All of these things will make him a cultural icon when his visa runs out and he is sent the way of his great grandparents....alas, not in chains this time.

Union hasn't tried to destroy league at all.
Union fans think of League in the same way Australians think of NZ

I guess it depends on who you know and who you speak to. I know several union fans who despise league and fear football. And league fans who despise union and fear football.
You point out the respect issue. I'm glad to hear that RU fans are increasingly developing a respect for RL (I do know a few myself), but sadly there remains a large if dwindling hardcore of RU supporters who still would like to stamp out RL.
The real hardcore can also be found on the Guardian RU blogs, referring to football as 'oikball'...

And most football fans regard both rugby codes as irrelevant, but doesn't stop the RFU and RFL desperately trying to get them to switch over...
Right... but football/soccer is played at a different time of the year to footy (Rugby league) in this country... so nothing really wrong with that?
If I was a soccer fan (which I'm not particularly although I have been to see a couple of games since I have been in England) just because RU or RL tried to get me to switch over unless I liked the game anyway I wouldnt be interested.
