If I download any of the patches, will they apply to my saved games or just new games?

Finally received my copy on Saturday, 8 days late. Haven't had much play on it yet due to one thing or another. Gonna have a go now...

How do I stop petty red cards? Gomis just got a red for flying through someone whilst the ball was trickling out for a goal kick. We were winning 2-0 as well.

Another thing; can you stop injuries or lessen the risk? I consistently have 6/7 players taking knocks during games, whilst I'm lucky if I don't come out with at least a player injured.

Really enjoying it so far, but I can't generate any funds at Lyon. I'm gagging for Ganso to play in midfield.

Signed so far:

Roderick Miranda - loan with agreed fee of £1m.

Radosav Petrovic - £5m eventually. Has been class so far, defensively and technically good.

Bassong - loan with agreed fee of £1m

Sime Vrsaljko - A few hundred K (can't remember figure). Good, young, versatile player, but I haven't played him yet as I can only have 4 non-EU.

Marco Verratti - £400k (classic)

Sebastien Corchia - £2m eventually

M'vila - £13m eventually (really dear, but had to force board to accept and he is a BEAST)

Got rid of Makoun and Revelliere, whilst I will get rid of Cris, Kallstrom and Vercoutre to get some old heads out. Got my eye on a few players (more players I've seen IRL than on FM), like Gotze and Shaqiri, but there are too many at the moment. Hopefully I can get far in Europe so I can get myself a good £10m-£20m net to spend, as the league will be a doddle. Just smoked Bordeaux 4-0 away with a Gourcunt hat-trick.

Finally finished the first season with Liverpool, ended up 3rd 2 points off winning the league after beating Chelsea (1st) and Arsenal (2nd) in the final 2 games.

Started off as Barcelona, wanted a nice easy start while I find my feet.

Signed Lukaku and Galeano in the summer, with Pacheco on loan for the year. Fabio Coentrao is coming in January, as at 31 Abidal hasn't got long left and Adriano isn't good enough to play there week in week out.

This week: Four keys to a Rhinos win in the WCC

Re: Football Manager 2010 : Mon Nov 22, 2010 1:23 pm
Finished season 4 of my Bradford game in FM2010, losing in the Playoff final in extra time to Middlesborough.

A 6th place finish when I was expected to finish 20th is a decent season though, and I've got a £6m transfer budget to play with over the summer.

Question is, have I gone as far as I can with Bradford and do I need to think about moving on to a bigger club? Already knocked back the Southampton job (mid-table Championship side in my game).

I had similar thoughts when I lost my first 4 Championship games, but I ended the season winning the play-off final 5-2 against Preston. I've now got a 25m budget with a minimum expectation to avoid relegation. So far I've snapped up Mexican international Javier Orozco from Cruz Azul for £5m and I have an offer in for 30 yr old Darren Bent, amongst other possible signings. I've just turned down the Liverpool job as I'm pretty hopeful for this season.

Have you still got any players from the side you inherited at the start of the game?

Luke O'Brien's been with me from the start but he's the only one I've still got at the club after four seasons IIRC.

I'm in 2014 now and Luke O'Brien was the last to leave at the start of my Championship season in 2013. I sold him to Derby in part exchange for Steven Davies. He had become a pretty handy player though so I made sure I had a good replacement lined up.

Only got three strikers now, sent Pacheco back as I didn't think we were giving him enough football to do him justice.

Villa (who is on fire), Bojan, and young Lukaku. Might see if I can get someone in on loan but if not, then will look to the A team and u19's if we suffer a few injuries.

Anyone else got a terrible problem with fullbacks picking up bookings? Abidal and Alves are always getting booked.

Just using a 4-5-1 tactic with individual player rolls set (haven't altered defenders), with an attacking, short passing, expressive style, slow temp. Playing quite like Barca in real life. Nearly felt like clapping after some of the goals we have scored. Pedro, Messi and Villa hitting on the counter after a killer ball from Xavi or Iniesta, resulting in the opponents being carved open for a simple tap-in. :ROCKS:

I think you can have a word with the player about their preferred moves "try not to dive into tackles" something like that. Also telling the players to stay on their feet using instructions during the game lowers the slide tackles. If the guy is persistently picking up red cards start issuing him warnings and then fine him.

I think people were saying too many injuries was another glitch with FM11. It's another thing i've not really experienced yet. 3 things that may help are good physios, medium training and not starting players below 90%. I still get injuries and sometimes it does seem like i get them all at once, but sometimes i can go months with all my players been perfect.

Only annoying problem i've come across is players making stupid wage requests. Tried to sign Scott Brown on a free transfer. He wanted 12.5k a week, so i made some budget adjustments and got my maximum to 13k. I offered his agent a good contract, which he accepted. A few days later the agent comes back to me and the contract has now been rejected. I go to put in another contract and he now wants 32k a week. I couldn't get this and wouldn't pay it anyway. 2 days later he signs for Motherwell on 2.5k a week... I checked his contract out and he hasn't even got a clause that'd boost it after a certain amount of games. I signed Michael Kightly on a free transfer instead.
