Surely fans care far more about results then the image/personality of the manager, it's a no brainer for me. Whats more, Jose Mourinho is a proven manager at the highest level and I would've loved him at Anfield regardless of his personality.

But when the results aren't coming, he has to have something else to keep him in the job a little longer. Benitez's fighting character is something that won the hearts of many supporters, his battle with the owners was something our supporters felt very passionate over; they were so passionate because Benitez's personality had won them over. Results obviously matter, but with regards to impressing supporters, if the manager came out and spoken honestly and didn't come across as a little 'snide' and 'daft', then the supporters would be right behind him. A manager's charisma, charm and ability to galvanise supporters and players alike is a much needed attribute, if the results aren't coming, he has to have something else going for him to gain support and some form of momentum.

Just because Benitez whined like you scousers doesn't mean he had personality.

He gained the goodwill from scousers because of the CL and FA Cup wins. If he had to rely on his personality he would have been totally and utterly ****ed.

And that's a FACT.

We went on to give United a severe cuntstuffing that won't be bettered for years. As much as many disagreed with the 'rant', for a stupendously sized 'muppet', as you put it, he must have done something right.

One swallow does not a summer make. Liverpool did murder Utd but I seem to remember Liverpool being clear at the top at the time of Rafa's rant. It all seemed a bit Kevin Keegan and while Liverpool fans remember the 4-1 victory I'm sure it would have meant more to them to win the title.
