I'll judge him on his performances, but for a guy who can't head the ball he did rather well on Sunday. As I said I'm quite happy to have sold Lescott for £24 mill and brought Distin in for £5 million. Very good business.

And for the "best player" comment....Lescott is nowhere near, I'd rather him go before Arteta, Yakubu, Cahill, Jagielka, Saha, Howard, Neville, Rodwell, Gosling.....see where this is going? Even Billy is worth more and was less than half the price!

You may have more money than Barack Obama but quite simply, £24 million for what turned out to be a greedy money-grabbing mercenary is waaaaaay over the top, and you got duped by Moyes who added £10million to his price for nothing

I wouldn't say well and truly overtaken. Lescott was and is a good player, he's strong and excellent in the air, Jagielka is excellent on the ground but no defender you have can match Lescott for strength or aerial ability. They complimented each other well, it will be interesting to see if Jagielka hits it off with Yobo/Distin as well as he did with Lescott.

They were crying about him not being the first choice England centre half at one point
