How would you evaluate your team after about a 1/3 of the season? .
Despite the record pretty pleased actually. Last year proved that it isn't how you start it is how you finish.
I think our defence was caught cold against San Fran and it was a truly terrible performance overall. We have picked it up since then and our defence has stepped up. That is what we need. We do not need a top 10 defence, anything above average is sufficient with the calibre of our offence.
Offence started slowly (for a number of reasons), but we are back upto speed now and Godgers is at MVP level as usual. Leads the league in TD's and has the highest passer rating in the league. Speaking of which he today got to 150 TD's in the 2nd fewest games (Marino) ever, however he has by far the lowest INT's at 150 TD's (27 less than 2nd place Marino). Unfortunately i think this is the end of Greg Jennings as a Packer. He is a brilliant, top 10 receiver but we have been able to cope without him with Nelson and Cobb looking outstanding. With key re-signings needed soon (Clay, BJ and Rodgers) I just can't see there being the scope to keep them all without compromising the team elsewhere.
Still one of the best teams in the league and i think we will win the North. I think the Vikes will fall away and the Bears will lose a few more than us.
Fancy our chances in the play-offs too. San Fran will never win anything with Alex Smith at QB. Much the same I just don't see Matt Ryan getting it done, and anywhere other than indoors the Falcons are a different team.
I'd hate to play the Giants in the play-offs. They are the perfect (perhaps only formula) that could beat us if we are playing well. They have a good defence and are capable of going toe to toe in a shootout (though obviously i'd give us a slight edge with having the better QB) but they are also capable of slowing the game down when neccesary. There are very few teams who could do that to us.
