Watching that Ljajic, he plays like Kaka. He seems to be able to drift players with ease, he doesn't look that quick but he is. His control is good as well, he seems to create time on the ball. His end product obviously isn't there, but at 17/18 he looks frightening.

Wow. He looked very ordinary to me in todays game vs the Ukraine. His free kicks where terrible (pointed out by the commentators) and he was outmuscled easily by the Ukranians.

Knowing Liverpool. Madrid will offer a take it or leave it offer at 15 million and we'd accept it!

Serbia were never really in the game. But if you watched him when he got the ball, especially early on, when he was running at players, controlling the ball and shifting around the pitch, you could see the similarities.

It wasn't a sensational performance or anything, I didn't say that, just that when you watched how he played and his style, that's who I'd compare him to.

Despite his free kicks being bad, he did whip in a few good corners.

The ghost of Rick Parry still haunts the club

If Xabi goes for £30m, I'd be OK with it, I think he'll be missed and we will be weaker, but it's certainly nowhere near as bad as losing Gerrard or Torres.

Alberto Aquilani looks set to join Liverpool.

Cant comment on him really. Looked on Roma Forums and they call him a Jewell (the new Totti). However he as been unlucky with a few injuries, apparantly because Roma keep rushing him back.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Madrid have wanted him in the past.

Reina
Insua
Agger
Caragher
Johnson
Mascherano
Lucas
Riera
Kuyt
Gerrard
Torres

Subs

Skrtel
Benayouan
Aquilani
Ngog
Babel
Aurelio

Not good enough imo. Chelsea the team to beat!

I've got a couple stashed somewhere: they published a couple of letters of mine over a period of time. I might even still have the shirt I got for a letter of the week once.

But it was a really good blend of the fanzine approach and the more 'glossy' approach, if you will. A meeting of 4-4-2 and When Saturday Comes. The cover headline after Germany won Euro '96 will stick in my mind for a long time: 'Jammy Kuntz'.

In terms of magazines, though, I'd say that 90 Minutes was really good. I was very sorry when that went under.

It was the best football magazine by a mile and, sadly, the rest of the footballing audience didn't catch on as it could be difficult to get hold of up here and, of course, went bump.

I think it was the subtle humour of the writers that did it more than anything. It was kind of groundbreaking in sports magazines at the time and was the first publication to cross the style of serious football magazines with the fanzine.

It's demise left a huge hole that has never been filled.

So we'll spend £15-£20 million Aquilani and bench him? Get a grip. Also, bear in mid that if we do sign Aquilani and sell Alonso we will still have £20 million to spend. When fit our starting XI could look like this:

Reina

Johnson
Agger
Carragher
Aurelio

Mascherano
Aquilani

Kuyt
Gerrard
Silva

Torres.

Bench:
Lucas
Benayoun
Babel
Reira
Skrtel
Insua
Cavalieri

Squad:
N'Gog
Pacheco
Spearing
Degen

Plenty good enough.
