He won't - he goes off in front and Ruby just turns the screw gradually and they fall further back (Mahogany Blaze, Petit Robin) or the jumping goes (Or Noir De Somoza).

He's been beaten before - by a horse I backed at 150/1 for the Gold Cup though

These two have faced each other twice in competitive matches during their careers to date. Once on a hard court (similar to tonights surface) and once on grass. The grass court meeting in 2007 was won by the Russian girl in straight sets at Wimbledon. The interesting stat for me is that Sania Mirza won the only hardcourt meeting between the two at San Diego in 2005 (6-2, 6-1) - this in the run-up to the US Open in which Petrova reached the quarter-finals (her other grand slam results that year, statistically her best ever were SF Roland Garros, QF Wimbledon and interestingly the fourth round here in Melbourne). In nine attempts at the Australian Open Petrova has failed to get past round three on 6 occasions, including two first round exits and a second round exit. Her best performance was in 2006 when she reached the quarters, she's been performing better here of late but lost in the last 32 to French teenage Alize Cornet last week. Mirza has yet to play this year but does have a good record on hard courts.

Only a small bet advised but 9/4 is too big about Mirza.

City chopped for the drop

MANCHESTER City have been cut to 16/1 to be relegated from the Premier League this season, according to Ladbrokes.

The bookies cut the odds from 25/1 at the weekend as City failed to capture Brazilian star Kaka in the transfer window and amidst news of unrest in the camp.

David Williams of Ladbrokes said: "City have become a laughing stock but with so much wealth, sympathy seems to be in short supply.

"The impact on the club of the Kaka collapse and the Robinho walk-out could be long-lasting and with the league so compressed relegation is still a prospect.

"We've not been surprised to see a surge of bets in our Old Trafford shops on City to be relegated."

Manager Mark Hughes is the 5/2 second favourite to be the next Premier League managerial casualty behind Middlesbrough's Gareth Southgate at 6/4.
