It's because that's how the newcastle fans treat them, flocking in their thousands to welcome them, with mad hysteria and excitment, sure you see a few ''messiah 9 shearer'' on the back of shirts. Look at the way they welcomed owen. The whole things cringeworthy.

That's got nothing to do with people being hysterical.

It's because the city lives and breathes football and Newcastle United, like no other place i have actually seen.

Football is massive in Newcastle, and without being biased, i have never known it to be the focal point of some many peoples lives, as opposed to other towns or cities, no matter how successful the team has been.

Owen was a massive signing, absolutely massive at the time.

It's got nothing to do with people being branded as 'messiahs', it is because people of Newcastle generally live for the Toon.

Yeh too true mate.

The thing is, there doesn't seem to be any passion, there is idiotic behaviour from Barton, but not real passion. One of the lads who would show some passion, Steven Taylor has been injured, he would run through a brick wall for Newcastle.

I think it will be a very nervous opening 10-20 minutes next Monday night, and i just hope the Newcastle lads settle down and pass the ball about like we did in the first 20 mins against Liverpool at the weekend.

It seems like most teams down there this year don't have the passion they should. Watching Hull last night against Villa they just didn't seem that bothered (except scumbag Barmby) but there just hasn't seemed the desire especially when one win could take either side really close to survival.

I think your right and it could be the key mate, whoever settles first could get a foothold. The thing is it's going to be very nervy early on but whoever settles first could just get that edge. The Derby element just adds to the drama. Can't wait.

Because they are smalltime tossers whose only pleasure in life is laughing at others.

What's funny though, if they looked a little closer to home, at their own clubs, they would all realise they would swap with Newcastle, that's what eats away at them.

From what i gather there were a few moments at the end where Hull looked like they would maybe get something out of the game.

Yes, next Monday night's game will be a nervous encounter i think mate.

Will be interesting to see who Shearer plays.

I disagree with that mate. If they were as fanatical about Newcastle as the media, locals make out, they would sell out every week. They don't, any sign of trouble and they stay away.

pffftt whatever.

That just seems like another translation of we have the best fans. Our city lives and breathes football like no other. Yeah. You ever been to turkey or italy? Some of them KILL for their team, their life revolves around the team. It runs through their blood.

You think your city lives and breathes football more than liverpool and the scouse community?

More head up the booty stuff from newcastle.

Even though Keegan has walked out on you twice you still won't criticise him. The situation you find yourself in has nothing to do with him, judging by the Newcastle fans posts on here.

If Keegan was to come back you'd welcome him back.

That's why other fans are right to take the pi55 over you and your messiahs. You might not use the flipping word, but that's how you act.

You're heading towards relegation and what do you do? Appoint the club's biggest star of the last decade, even though he has shown precious little desire to manage. The only qualification he has to be your boss is what he did as a player. Keegan was living in Spain and insisting he was done with football when your club went over and dragged him back to manage you. That's not crazy to you lot, that's doing what the Toon Army want.

Even if Shearer doesn't win a single game this season and takes you down most of your fans will still be happy if he stays on as manager.

All these things are why you rightly earn the Messiah tag.

I agree with you mate, that is why he shouldnt have been appointed for a second time round.

I remember him being interviewed weeks before he was given the job and as you state, he said he had been completely out of touch with the game.

Like Shearer, i personally didn't think Keegan was the right man for the job, however, you back managers and hope they do well. Keegan turned us from playing like a shower of s*it, to playing well at places like Old Trafford, etc... i think that is the biggest cause of disappointment mate.
