Not sure if any of the City fans on here remember Sturridge playing for them, but for those that do, do you remember his game away at Schalke in the old Wafer cup?

When I seen him then I always felt he'd make a left sided player. He's always struck me as a capable player who simply doesn't want it enough to truly elevate his talents. He's fast with decent dribbling ability, I thought he would have been a great wide player, but according to my CFC-supporting pal at work, he hasn't been up to much out wide.

Can't say I'm delighted with Sturridge but I'll happily be proven wrong. At least he has pace.

I presume the managers discuss players they would like to have

its then up to the board / owners to agree deals

that as you say makes for ridiculous reading

"I fined a player last week and he was earning more than any player earned at Tottenham. You shouldn't be paying massive wages when you've got a stadium that holds 18,000 people.
"Newcastle holds 52,000 and most of their players will be nowhere near some of the wages some of the players are earning here."

Do you think Redknapp's taken a pay cut to be QPR's saviour, or do you think he's held out for the same, or more, than he was on at Spurs? I think he's being a Wenger and decrying the state of player wages while happily pocketing top-of-the-table money for a relegation threatened side.

If Bosingwa refused to be a sub for a match he deserves to be kicked out of the club for that. He's completely wrong and his behaviour deserves whatever punishment QPR sees fit.

But Harry Redknapp publicly discussing his wages in that manner is just as wrong. He's saying that the owners were mugs over the signing of many of the players, he'll be ripping several of the players for the wages they are on, he's basically putting all the blame on everyone else and admitting that he's not going to earn his money by keeping QPR up.

BBC wrote:

Bosingwa played the entire 120 minutes of the Champions League final. He came on in the 12th minute in the away leg at Barca. He was a late sub in the home game against Barca. The BBC description downplays his role as though he was an unused sub or not even that. He won the CL with Chelsea, don't give me that "part of the Chelsea squad" BS.

Sturridge is a funny one.....He seems to have a lot of potential, yet nobody ever seems willing to give him a chance to prove himself.

At City, prior to their recent success, he never got much of a chance and was allowed to leave without much of a fight, and its fair to say he has never been trusted or given much opportunity at Chelsea.

It looks like he might finally get a chance to play consistantly at Anfield, so we will finally get to see if he is the real deal, or another over-rated, overpriced Englishman....He definitely, in Suarez, has the strike partner who will provide goalscoring chances, so it looks promising, but from certain reports he does appear to have a bit of an attitude, so I think it will be interesting how it all unfolds.

Sturridge was out of contract at Citeh. He'd just won Citeh's YPotY. They'd just started seriously splashing out the Sheikh's money.

I think at Chelsea he was back up to Drogba and Torres. A learning role to step up when the God left. His loan spell at Bolton absolutely showed the guy has huge potential. But the absolute disaster of Torres has pretty much forced Sturridge out of the club just to allow Torres the chance to come good. A chance that Torres hasn't taken and will never take.

If I was given a choice, there's no doubt in my mind that Torres would be the player leaving in January. I think Chelsea have made some criminally stupid decisions, and letting Sturridge go will be proved to be among the worst.

His attitude. All I care about his attitude on the pitch. With Sturridge I see a striker. He's hungry for goals, he's desperate for goals, and I think he's prepared to miss because he knows that's the price a striker pays. With Torres I see a player who is scared to miss. He takes poor positions which ensure he doesn't miss, or just happens to reach the cross too late. I like watching Sturridge play, I've been disgusted with a lot of the dross Torres has offered.

My guess is that Sturridge will emerge as an Ian Wright-level player. I will be very displeased over that no matter where he goes, but to give that gift to Liverpool???? WTFever Chelsea.

My only hope is that Sturridge leaving will be eclipsed by Falcao coming in. Because I'm already pretty angry at the CFC board, if Sturridge goes and our only response is to recall Lukaka then it's getting close to the last straw.

is Sturridge now "world class" like Joe Allen?

I actually think it's a great signing,

The difficulty is always finding the right position for Sturridge. He's naturally a 2nd striker but has tended to play in teams that prefer a single striker. He isn't really suited for that role so tends to get shunted out wide which he doesn't like.

I think it will be the same issue at Liverpool. I cant see him playing as a striker alongside Suarez. The question is whether he will be happy playing wide.

At Liverpool, Sturridge the main striker. Suarez gets a free role to go wherever he wants.

The only potential positive outcome I can see from this is if we're selling the scousers a crock like they sold us with Torres.

Can't remember where I read/heard it, but somebody was saying Rodgers has been saying he sees Luis' future as a wide forward/roaming forward. I'm unsure if Sturridge has the tools to be a lead forward. An excellent counter-attacking player where he can utilise his pace, but does he have the brains? I dunno. As I said, I'm not convinced by him despite the obvious signs of his ability.

Before he left City, Sturridge was offered a decent wage. I might be wrong but I think they offered him more than Chelsea did, but he genuinely wanted to go.

I rate him when he was with us and if played up front will get goals. Good signing for Liverool.
