I think it makes it easier to move KD to DOF, leaving the door open for a new manager in the summer.
Possible, but wouldn't be too wise unless Kenny actually wanted to do that. A while back I read a few interesting pieces talking about DoFs. One of the best points made was that DoFs shouldn't want to manage, they shouldn't have any desire to be tactical, to coach a side or to control a team, they should have purely scouting ability and the ability to judge a player. If a DoF has a need/desire to be involved in the team, it can make the relationship between him and the manager strained - clarity of roles is pivotal to make the thing a success. If we moved Kenny to DoF and brought in a manager under him, say, Rafa Benitez as an example, would Kenny be able to stay away from the team and accept a role completely distanced from the playing staff? It's debatable.
If FSG are to continue with the DoF route, I always think it's better that a DoF brings in his own manager so that everything is clear with regards to roles and vision. I mean, what if we brought in a new DoF this summer that only wanted U23 players with the long term in mind, but Kenny wanted 25+ players to come in and immediately compete? The DoF can definitely work in football, look at clubs across the continent to see it done successfully, we just haven't done it as well as them in England.
