Not having a pop but why do Liverpool more than any other set of fans try to decrease transfer fees in such posts. £20 million fee agreed according to Sky Sports news for Downing and £20 million was widely reported in nearly all media outlets for Henderson.
On the other hand, why do transfer fees always get rounded up when Liverpool are involved? I wrote approx beacuse I've heard fees ranging from £13m to £20m for Henderson, and £16mil to £20mil for Downing. It's not been disclosed so we've no idea. I'm sure I've read from someone at Liverpool that we haven't paid £20 mil for Henderson and that £13m has gone down which could rise to £16m. the £20m always included N'Gog as well. He didn't sign and I'd say we valued him aroudn the £4mil mark. Radio City reported that £17million was accepted by Villa for Downing. Villa were looking for £18.5mil for him so why would we go to £20m?
I'm sure you don't usually take everything that SSN reports as read. Ryan Babel would still be in a helicopter if they were right all the time.
Either way, taking it to £20mil for each of them (which it wasn't) would take our net spend to £46 million. Do you think we've done good business in total or not? Whilst it looks like we've spent a raft, when you take it with the signings in Kennys tenure, I'd say we've done very well.
