He, alongside Bale, is looking like the next best left winger/wing back. Coentrao will probably stay in defence whilst Bale will probably stay in midfield, though. Still, neither player has impressed me more than when I seen a young Yuri Zhirkov playing in Russia. Not sure why Zhirkov hasn't quite turned it on at Chelsea, he's one of the most complete wingers around IMO.

How did you manage to catch footage of a young Yuri Zhirkov playing in Russia? I thought ESPN had only started screening it the past 2 or 3 seasons. Are there some good links?

Me: I'm still reeling from the news that someone is considering watching the 1st and 3rd game on Saturday and NOT watching Warrington play. It's like being in Shea Stadium when the Beatles came to town and deciding to nip out for a fag.

knockersbumpMKII: Is it FOOK, you're good but you're not THAT good, jesus you wanky fans need to get over yourselves, Beatles at the Shea in '65 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some (despite the following years performance), you can watch a very good team in primrose & yellow play every week if you really wanted to but comparing it to one of the very best music groups of all time in an iconic stadia such as the shea is overegging your importance, you're not even the best team in SL atm

Not really. 'Debt' on its own is not a problem, plenty of businesses and football clubs operate with different sizes of debt. The problem is paying the debt and interest on the debt, as far as I know, the new owners have said that the interest on the debt is only a few million a year, something like £5m.

Erm, that is entirely my point. Assuming he is telling the truth in the interview, there is nothing contractual which prevents him loading the club with debt (and I can't see how there could be). Just like there wasn't with Hicks and Gillett. Also, it is noteworthy that they have 'promised' not to load the club with acquisition debt...just like Hicks and Gillett. We'll see when the first lot of accounts come out I suppose.

Probably not. The issue for Liverpool fans isnt so much whether the owners load debt onto the club, but whether they can afford to keep their initial investment in the club without making a return on it. The club but could remain entirely debt free but the owners might still need to take out cash in the form of dividends.

It depends how you define 'young'. I first seen him playing for CSKA when they were a bit of a 'force' in the old Uefa cup. He wasn't a teenager or anything, but it was a good four or five years ago when I first seen him, both on TV and via sopcast streams. That doesn't mean to say I studied him, either, just seen quite a few games of his on things like Eurosport.

The problems will arise once it becomes the club's duty to pay off yearly interest payments, and, even then, it all depends on the size of those payments. If the club were paying £5/6m a year max on interest payments, it wouldn't be too much of a problem as we're quite a profitable club if Purslow and co. are to be believed. But when it's £35m+ every year and we're selling players to fund that, something is seriously wrong and that's when the supporters will step in to do their utmost to defend the club.

I hope that they allow us to compete like they said they would, I don't think they're going to be the same as Tom and George, but I also think they'll have a few challenging years ahead of them.

If I had a pound for every player, RR has claimed to have seen years ago on a regular basis, whilst plying their trade in some random eastern european country id be rich now.

I think they'll be decent owners for you, provided that nothing goes wrong with their other businesses.

Liverpool have apparently appointed Damien Comolli to oversee recruitment drive. Good news if true.

Enjoy watching Alan Hutton, Kevin-Prince Boateng and Younes Kaboul every week.

Some of Commoli's highly regarded acquisitions while at Spurs. :D
