Me: I'm still reeling from the news that someone is considering watching the 1st and 3rd game on Saturday and NOT watching Warrington play. It's like being in Shea Stadium when the Beatles came to town and deciding to nip out for a fag.

knockersbumpMKII: Is it FOOK, you're good but you're not THAT good, jesus you wanky fans need to get over yourselves, Beatles at the Shea in '65 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some (despite the following years performance), you can watch a very good team in primrose & yellow play every week if you really wanted to but comparing it to one of the very best music groups of all time in an iconic stadia such as the shea is overegging your importance, you're not even the best team in SL atm

Well, some people just can't help buying a Liverpool replica shirt.

He is. But a lot of sides have those sort of players already there.

United - Rooney
Arsenal - Fabregas/Nasri (if they keep them) (probably won't pay believed fee)
City - Tevez, Silva
Spurs - Modric, VdV

He's a top player, but he doesn't have the experience to justify the price tag, hence the reason I think a side from Serie A would go for him, where they can offer all kinds of co-ownerships and players in return.

United could easily accomodate him and Rooney, Pastore could play a little deeper than he is now and Rooney could go back to being the lone striker (when he got all his goals last year).

Arsenal will lose both those players this summer.

City wouldn't blink twice about having Silva + Pastore, and again similar to United, he could play alongside Tev.

Spurs - he just wouldn't go there anyway.

If it's an English club though, it'll be Chelsea.

Well let's put it this way, Rooney plays best playing off a striker. He had a good year before when he got a lot of goals, but he clearly struggled in that role this year, luckily, Berbatov carried his poor form for him. I think Fergie likes the Hernandez/Rooney combo. I don't know why he'd go and spend £40m on a player to change that, it makes little sense, especially from a manager who seems to favour continuity.

At City, Mancini generally plays three attacking players with one box-to-box player, e.g. Tevez, Silva, Balo then Toure. Pastore doesn't really fit the mold of attacking midfielder/forward he likes, Silva likes to play off the flanks and cut in, or he can at least operate in that way. Pastore is very much a free roaming player, a player like Riquelme who would thrive most in England if he was given the hole with players behind him. City could change to accommodate him, but that would mean Mancini completely changing a working system to accommodate a player they don't really need.

Arsenal's players probably will go, but Wenger won't spend £40m when he believes he can get the player before the move to Europe.

I agree, Chelsea would probably be his only club, but it remains to be seen if Chelsea are going to invest in new players, or stick with the tried and failed.

Tried and Failed.

Isn't that the article about British justice when Gerrard got off with beating up a bloke with his friends?

Don't really see how they are tried and failed when they have 3 Premier League titles, 3 FA Cups and 2 League Cups.

I think City are basically looking to replace Gareth Barry in the starting line up. Not so much by a direct replacement in his role alongside De Jong, preferably with a more creative player with Yaya Toure dropping deeper. I dont think any of the midfield players liked with City such as Pastore would cause any great disruption to last season's system, in fact it would address the obvious weakness in the team. Like a lot of teams we are missing a playmaker.

Replace Gareth Barry? Xabi Alonso's almost as good.

Twelve 3rd division clubs are going to drop down the league due to financial problems. Spanish football is in big trouble, believe me.

The reports today suggest it's Chelsea who have made the £45m bid for Pastore.

Nasri wants to join Utd but Arsenal will want him to go to City in the hope of getting more money for him.

Blackpool want £9m from Liverpool for Adam, rumours that they may be interested in Milner too.
