Rumour is that he'd been sniffing about the Leeds job and that contributed to his sacking. How much truth there is in that, I don't know. I wouldn't be surprised if he did end up there now there's no compo to be paid to Town, but my feeling is that he won't - if that makes any sense.

To be fair, I thought he always looked a good player, but never thought he'd suit Serie A. If anything, he's the sort of opposite of what Milan traditionally go for: he's quick, aggressive, undisciplined and probably isn't the greatest decision maker, but he's so what they needed, it's worked well.

I think he's been injured for spells this year, hence why he hasn't featured in all of their games, but there's no doubting he's one of their best players.

the problem appears to be with Mr Bates who wants to very much 'hands on' !

difficult to attract any coach with such restraints ?

I know football punditry in this country is notoriously bad, but did Graham Taylor really just say that Ajax have got to realise that the football world has changed and they've got to invest time in developing an academy and get young players coming through?!

Is this some different Ajax?

Tomorrow morning at 9am, ITV 4 begin a re-run of the excellent 'Big Match Revisited', which is basically a week-by-week showing of the ITV version of Match Of The Day from 25 years ago. It's a great watch, showing football from before it became the circus it is today, as well as being a lovely nostalgia trip for older viewers. Tomorrow they feature Man City -v- Spurs. They also feature Barnsley-v-Wolves, with pictures no doubt from their friends at Yorkshire Television.
