This is the 1/1000 where Nani clearly handles the ball, Gomes assumes the free kick has been given and throws the ball down, Nani then runs up and plays the ball into the net.
There's obviously confusion and pressure because it was a stupid passage of play, but I'm just puzzled how Clattenburg can give the goal once he's consulted with the lino.
Nani is an even bigger greasy cheat than Ronaldo. He knows he's handled it. Yet he's got up and played on as though nothing has happened.
Was a really strange passeage of play
first of all Nani is dragged down for a clear penelty
second Nani places his hand on the ball (no one will deny that)
third Gomez assumes free kick and places the ball 10 yards away from Nani even though theres no whistle
fourth Nani looks at the ref for guidance and the ref signals play on so Nani slots the ball home
fifth the lines man doesn't signal at any point for an offence untill the Spuds players crowded him, then again he missed the ball go out of play in the first half oh and the penelty
sixth we were already 1-0 up and looked comfortable pretty much all game with VDS only having to make one save in the whole game
A real comedy of errors but like they say you never get peneltys at Old Trafford, I'd say the only player not to blame was Nani as he was just playing to the whistle like you are taught.
