Gomes assumed the free-kick was awarded & placed it down, because Clattenburg hadn't given anything he ruled the ball back in play. Sheer lunacy. How he could not give either a Utd penalty or a Spurs free kick after the initial incident is beyond me.

Stupidity from Gomes there. Sheer stupidity. He'll escape blame though as it's easier to blame the ref. Probably justice as Kaboul fouled Nani and the penalty wasn't given.

I do like the way the commentators claim that Spurs were cheated. As soon as VdV departed he result was in the bag. Chris Waddle is an idiot!

Great refereeing from a referee to be listening to the verdict of your lino with the Man United captain stood there to help you both out. He'd rightly sent all the Tottenham players away, but for some ridiculous reason Ferdinand was allowed to stand in for the meeting.

He's obviously ruled play on because he's never blown up for Nani placing his hand on the ball. That'd be fair enough if nothing had happened, but when Nani gets up, runs up and puts the ball in the net he should have been whistling for the free kick as obviously Spurs had no advantage with them not even playing the ball or doing anything.

If the ball clips someone's arm then it's right to assume it's play on. But if a player puts their hand on the ball and stops the ball dead it's pretty difficult to ignore that.

Gomes was simply stealing 6 ft for the free kick and searching for a Spurs player to play the ball out to.

It's easier to blame the ref because it was a ridiculous decision to give a goal for that passage of play. Nani clearly handled the ball and stopped it dead. The lino tells him that Nani handled the ball, but Clattenburg decides to ignore that.

Playing advantage? Should he have stopped play and given spurs a free kick rather than allowing Gomes to play on when time was not on their side?

I think someone must have slipped something in Bobby's espresso. Over ambitious selection considering that it was obvious that Wolves main threat would come from their wingers. But that aside his substitutions were mind bogglingly baffling. Zabaleta for a striker when we're losing? Leaving Balotelli on for 90 mins when he'd clearly shot his bolt after 60 mins?

The most disappointing aspect of the game was that if you had just watched the game from the 80th to 85th min you could be forgiven for assuming we were 2-0 up.

999/1000 Gomes would have just played the ball to a Spurs player, the match would've gone on and no one would have made anything of it.

This is the 1/1000 where Nani clearly handles the ball, Gomes assumes the free kick has been given and throws the ball down, Nani then runs up and plays the ball into the net.

There's obviously confusion and pressure because it was a stupid passage of play, but I'm just puzzled how Clattenburg can give the goal once he's consulted with the lino.

Nani is an even bigger greasy cheat than Ronaldo. He knows he's handled it. Yet he's got up and played on as though nothing has happened.
