No. We shouldn't sell him in January. In the summer, maybe, but it's more about showing the 'attitude' of the club, IMO. We were bullied over Masch and Alonso, we gave in and let the best midfield combo in the league go, submissively. We should tell Torres to stick it, Chelsea to stick it and wait until the summer.
Only way I'd let him go is for £40m/£50m and Zhirkov, who is wasted there.
Another thing, a mate of mine said he's heard CFC fans don't want Torres. To be fair, he isn't what they're crying out for IMO, they could really do with a top drawer passer in the Silva mold. Still, if he's 'over his injuries' and regains the sharp burst of acceleration he had, then they have the most complete forward in world football. One of the only forwards with the strength and height to worry centre halves, but the skill and pace to take it to the full backs as well. A truly special player who is only bettered by Villa in the world. Still, that is assuming he's over his injuries and he still has that burst of acceleration, as he hasn't looked that 'quick' or 'sharp' for a while now, but that may be selective on his part.
Balague on Sky Sports: "LFC negotating with Chelsea. Torres feels he has to go and knows he has to accept the consequences".
He is being poorly advised, IMO. If he wanted to move to a club to win, he'd wait 'til the summer and wait for Real or Barca to come calling. I know Chelsea are the champs, but they are a declining squad with a manager in an awkward position. They have a rebuilding job, too, and I don't think the owner will fully commit to this 'rebuild' as he did to the initial job when Jose came in, or at least he won't contribute at the pace he did. With United, Spurs, Arsenal and Citeh only getting stronger, it'll take more than Torres for Chelsea to be 'it' again.

Spot on Rob. I wondered why Chelsea are preferred. Must be a few others coming in the summer.
Barça won't go anywhere near Torres. Great away win for Athletic this afternoon. No wonder Forlan and Agüero want to leave Atlético, they're in a right state.

I agree Rob, we should show some balls and wait till the summer, then if Torres performs well throughout the remainder of this season his value could go up, and also, he then might want to stay, given time. I just think him and Suárez would make a brilliant partnership, he's been crying out for assistance and now he's got it he wants to go, I just don't get it.

I thought there was a clause that would activate in the summer if we fail to finish top 4, that would allow him to leave for £50m?
Anyway, I don't think they'd make a good partnership. Suarez will need someone to play to his strengths, same with Torres, I don't think they play to eachother's strengths, much like Torres and Keane didn't, so I could just see them playing like two individuals.
If Torres goes, we need to look for someone who's big, can hold the ball up whilst extra's like pace, mobility and finishing would be nice. Would release myself if we replaced Torres with Llorente, but he's allegedly off to Madrid, which would be a shame.
