fact is mate, they have done all this before in the late 70's early 80's, and the ended up in the old 3rd division. everton are a good example of a club living within their means, and the proof that moyes is an excellent manager.

Fair point. I like Everton as a club - the fans are a different story all together, but that's another debate. Moyes has done a magnificent job, there's no doubt, with a limited budget.

I've not seen one City fan dispute the facts you've raised. The reason this debate started was a comment from a seemingly jealous Everton fan. He was having a go at City and their fans for getting excitable and ahead of themselves. It's what the do and always have done - it's just that this time there's a bit a of substance behind their excitment, and some fans are getting twitchy about it. This is a club who bought Lee Bradbury and built him up to be the next Maradona. I was told Dickson Etuhu was the next Patrick Vieira by one City fan. Their greatest ever player in the prem ended up in the Ajax reserves. Now they are linked with top tier stars and they are a genuine threat to the top 4, which is a position which Everton, Villa and the would like to be too.

they have won a european trophy!!!!!!!!! so they had to perform well on at least one occasion, and to be honest they haven't got a bad record at all over the last 40 years. much better than citeh's...............the problem with you lot is you is that it must be very very cold living in united's shadow all these years.

We have won a European trophy too. We may not have terrorise Europe as promised by Malcolm but we have had a number of great European nights.

Everton have been chronic in Europe of late. Yes or no? Answer the question. Stop referring back to the 1980's.

Re your comments about us spending money in 1970s and early 1980s: How does that relate to us being so low in the late 1990s?

I don't know one person who claimed Etuhu was going to be as good as Viera, and neither do I know anyone who thought Badbuy was any good.

As for Kinky, you have to admit that he was a great talent. He went to one of the biggest clubs in Europe. Howrever, it coincided with him becoming fat and no longer being interested in football, bar the financial benefits.

Just read that the Madrid based press are saying Real have agreed to sign Benzema, but Benzema's teammate - Pjanic, has said he's close to joining United.

Would love to see him in England, I think it suits his style to a tee, would hate to see him at United, though

because the extravegance of the late 70's early 80's left the club virtually bankrupt, hence you had to sign journeymen from the lower leagues which is where you eventually finished up!!

Wrong. The club was owned by different individuals. You had Peter Swales, who was then replaced by Franny Lee in 1994 but who sold up in 1998.

To cut a long story short, it was more to do with Lee saying he had lots of money, when in fact he didn't.

Stick to your own club, fella.

It could be a whiole. It could take up to 10 years.

At least he didn't steal a living like Danny Mills - whose contracts has just expired with City
