Well we don't know what Gerrard's condition is: he could be 90% fit; but he could be 60% fit. The coaching staff will have put him through his paces in training, Rafa wouldn't play him if he wasn't able to perform at a high standard, nor would he play him if there was quite a good chance of further injury.

He stuck him on the bench on the weekend, so I'd say he's in pretty good condition, I think he'll start on the bench.

Yes, I agree. He's only started 11 games in the league, and played 12 off the bench. He's had a good season, but I don't think he's been anywhere near as good as Gerrard, but that's just me. Also, how many games has Rafael played in the league? I'm not saying he shouldn't be in contention for the award, I'm just curious to see how many games he played.

For me, it's out of Gerrard or Vidic for the award. The YPOTY award should go to either Ireland, Young or Agbonlahor, in my opinion.
